I usually relate my blogs to real estate in some way. Not today! I had a good week last week- the first in a really long time. I haven't had the chance to spend any fun down time with my family lately. Yes, I know I should/could make time, but I've been doing everything possible to keep my family afloat. I decided that I would go to the pool with my wife and one year old daughter. Well, we woke up this morning to thunderstorms and I thought my fun day was going to be a wash out. After lunch the sun broke through and it turned out to be a nice afternoon. We took our baby into the pool for the first time. She loved it! I had a blast floating around with her and watching her as she experienced this for the first time. It was a well deserved day with the family and it could not have been any better. We are so happy she liked the pool. Hope you all had a chance to enjoy some down time.
I just posted a blog and went to respond to comments. I was shocked when I saw that the comments were not good. I re read my blog and realized that I had missed my point completely. I am one of those people who have too many thoughts running through their head for their own good. I sometimes lose focus- as I did earlier tonight. I appreciate everyone's comments- it made me stop, take a moment and think. I just need to slow down- there is always tomorrow.
I was calling agents to set up appointments to show houses. I was surprised- well, not really, on how may agents I did not reach. I left a message stating when I would like to show the home and specifically said, " if this time is ok then you don't have to call back- only call if there is a problem and we need to change the time. Thanks." I must have called over 30 agents and left that message about 15 times. I got 10 calls from agents telling me that the time was fine. Hello- it wasted so much time having to leave the message, then wait for them to call back if there was a problem, only to have them call back to agree with the time. I thought I was going to spend the entire day on the phone. That is why I left that message- I usually wouldn't get so annoyed over something like this, but we were going to be looking at a lot of houses and I was trying to minimize my time on the phone.
Well, I think I came across wrong. I don't mind a quick call to confirm or remind me about a pet. What I meant to complain about was the 20 minute sales pitch. (See what happens when you are doing more than one thing at a time- you lose focus.)
A few days ago I posted a blog about a client of mine who actually listened to my advice and made a few changes in their home. (They turned a bonus room into a 4th bedroom by building in a closet.) Over the weekend we might have found a buyer! This would be great for this family! All I can do now is follow up and cross my fingers! Amazing how things can happen when someone listens to you and acts!!
I have had a busy few days. I had an out of town buyer here and we spent the holiday weekend looking for a new home for them. As I was showing these listings, I started thinking about a few of mine. I have a couple that I am nervous about in this market. One of the owners really needs to sell. I've done everything I do with my other listings- but with only a few buyers out there, we haven't had any luck. It's a great home, but there are new construction in the neighborhood that a buyer can get for close to the same price. This home is very reasonably priced- it's just bad timing. I guess I'm just not sure how to handle a few of these listings since I've never been through such a tough market before.
