I got a call from a realtor that I have met a couple of times through Kym Hough, from Staged-to-Sell. The realtor asked me to submit a bid, along with Kym, for a house, in the most exclusive area of our San Francisco East Bay. I talked to Kym before going to the home, as I did not want to step on her toes and to thank her for the referral. Kym indicated that the project would take much longer than she, personally, had time to give, and wanted me to get the job. Now, how nice is that? I saw the home, met the homeowners and got the job. I spent several days with the both homeowners, moving furniture, re-hanging art, and packing allot of "stuff". I got to know them fairly well and now have become friends with them. I enjoyed every minute in this home and want to share with you some of its uniqueness.
The original home was torn down and a new one architected and built to resemble Frank Lloyd Wright's work.
The homeowner is not fond of hard edges so opted for rounded edges in the kitchen and ceilings.
The homeowners have a love of all woods and opted for the most unusual; cumaro (brazilean teak - does not fade) for the floors, spanish oak for the arched ceilings running inside to outside and teak beams in the dining room.
Everything is custom; from the inside of the kitchen cabinets, mirrored baseboards in the master bath that light up, to the hand painted wallpaper that was torn and applied in the front foyer to resemble aged copper.
The home sits on a golf course and has fabulous views of Mount Diablo (a beloved mountain in our East Bay) from almost every room. Downstairs there is an exercise room with a mural that completes the rounded window view, home office for two with all built in cabinets, bookcases and desks, 2 master guest bedrooms, and a golf cart barn.
The more time I spent in this home, the more I was able to appreciate its uniqueness and all the custom details.
Enjoy!
