An upscale executive home in Oakville was on the market with NO offers for 6 months. Great curb appeal, high end neighbourhood, mature trees and a good size backyard, corner lot.
Now, the interior was spacious and the layout great, but is was simply "outdated". Wrong light fixtures, vertical blinds throughout (YES!!!), wall colours that were way too "harsh" to appeal!
Living Room BEFORE:
The focal point of this room is the fireplace. The big, outdated mirror on top of it makes the room look old and with no feeling. The windows have no tretaments, the couches are ugly.
AFTER:
The big mirror is out, the wall has been re-painted in a darker shade that matches the existing palette, the couches have been covered with white slipcovers, windows now have nice linen roman shades. New lamps in 3 different corners create now a completely different atmosphere.
Kitchen BEFORE:
Office-like white vertical blinds, small table and outdated chandelier. PINK wall colour!!!!!
Kitchen AFTER:
New chandelier, bigger table, NEW neutral wall colour!
The vertical blinds have been replaced by simple neutral linen curtains that allow the view to the backyard.
Master Bedroom and Ensuite BEFORE:
tHE BED IS TOO SMALL for the size of the room, too many small obects on the wall, outdated chest of drawers, white vertical blinds!
This is the bow window in the master... no use for this beatiful space!
A pink washroom with , AGAIN, white vertical blinds does not meet all buyers's taste!
AFTER:
King bed, curtains and a little bit of de-cluttering!
Now this is a bow window with a use to it!
And a much sober bathroom, with new roman shades!
The windows of this house had a diamond shape design that made them really special. I decided that i could frost paint the washroom windows for privacy and get rid of the vertical blinds by replacing them with lines roman shades:
I tried to use and re-convert whatever was available, like flipping the beds from the master to the guest. The major thing was to get rid aff all those white vertical blinds that were everywhere! The curtains i used are in my inventory, in white and linen colour and i use them really often! Accessories, lamps, frames are all part of my inventory.
Little money spent..but major result for the house sold in less than 60 days!!
