Lake Tillery and the Uwharrie Mountains are part of the Uwharrie National Forest. The forest has approx. 50,369 acres covering 78.7 sq. miles. Montgomery County is home to about 79% of this acreage. It also claims territory in Randolph and Davidson counties.
During the Great Depression the Uwharrie Mountains found itself in the midst of a gold rush. The first substantial gold strike in the US was found in this area in the late 1700's. RainCamp in Charlotte NC was awesome! It has stirred an inner fire with the agents from Keller Williams Pinehurst that attended. The knowledge that was shared by Ben Kinney and Bob Stewart was amazing. These guys have got it going on!
