Happy Birthday to my Big Boy, Landon Graham, 1 Year Old!! - 11/30/11 05:31 PM
Happy BIrthday to the BEST little boy in the world. Today, Landon is 1 already! Can you believe it? This time last year, I was in the hospital with an 8 1/2 pound bundle of joy, and that little bundle is now 24 pounds and is about to break my arm every time I pick him up!
Time didn't go this quickly with my first. I'm not sure why time goes faster when you have more than one.
What is Landon doing at 1 year old? He walks, he dances, he claps, he does sign language. He says (10 comments)
Sellers - The Product You're Selling is Your House - Allow Black Friday Showings - 11/22/11 05:50 PM
If you have a product to sell, would you close your doors on a busy, holiday shopping day? If you're a home seller with their house on the market for sale, doesn't that mean you're living in your product? Just because it's a holiday, does that mean you should "close your doors" for the sale? Here's the picture... Last year, I was 10 months pregnant around Thanksgiving. I was ready to pop. I had buyers I was trying to finish things up with so I could make sure they were taken care of before the baby came. I didn't want my (52 comments)
Landon Finally Found his Feet and is Walking - Video - 11/22/11 10:30 AM
Landon rolled over at the same time Alyssa did. Landon sat up a month before Alyssa did. Landon crawled a couple of weeks before Alyssa did... I assumed Landon would walk well before Alyssa did because he was cruising the furniture for months and months. Most babies only cruise for a month or a few weeks, but Landon cruised for about 4 months. Alyssa walked 2 days before she turned 11 months. Landon finally took a few steps on Nov 15, at 11 months and 15 days. I knew he knew how to walk, he just didn't want to. He (11 comments)
Travis Country West - Austin TX - Hidden Community with Views - 11/22/11 10:12 AM
Travis Country West is located just West of Austin TX on Southwest Parkway. I see lots of questions on different real estate forums about where people should look for houses in specific areas in specific price points. When someone mentions a price point under $350k for West or Southwest Austin, I always recommend Travis Country West, and that is always followed by several other people saying it's impossible to buy a house in Travis Country West in that price point. Look at this sales chart for the past 6 months.

Foto Friday - View from a Child - 11/18/11 10:39 PM
For Alyssa's birthday this week, so got her very first digital camera. She is always bugging us about taking pictures and then she wants to see them immediately. With her own camera, she can take pictures and view them whenever she wants. Here are a couple of pictures she took before her party:
At first, I was annoyed that she's not looking at the screen correctly nor aiming her pictures. Then, I was reminded that these pictures were taken from "her view". She's little so she doesn't always see above the legs. You should see all the pictures I (18 comments)
Canyon Creek - NW Austin TX - Homes Selling at 100.1% of Asking Price - 11/18/11 02:07 PM
Canyon Creek in NorthWest Austin is a highly sought-after area with mature trees and great community things like the pool, park, tennis courts, basketball court, etc... Canyon Creek is one of those neighborhoods where if you're priced right and your home shows well, it will sell, and quickly.
I compared sales data from September 1, 2010 - November 18, 2010 to September 1, 2011 - November 18, 2011.
Interesting sales information...
In 2010, there were 10 sold homes in Canyon Creek. In 2011, there were 14 sales for the same time period. Also, there are (0 comments)
BabyHarris Update 11/15/07- WATER BROKE! Currently at Hospital in Labor BabyHarris Update- She Has Arrived and Finally Has a Name!!! Alyssa inherited a little (ok, huge) stubborn streak from someone, I'm not sure who (maybe it was me)... so I'm really hoping this next year will be better than this past year. I've learned a lot about myself this past year, and learned that I need to work (14 comments)
Small Business Saturday - Shop Small - November 26 - 11/15/11 10:50 AM
Small Business Saturday - Shop Small is November 26. It's after Black Friday and before Cyber Monday... After Turkey Dinner, it was always tradition to start your Holiday shopping the day after, which is Black Friday, termed because that was when many retail stores got out of the red for the year and into the black.
A few years ago Cyber Monday popped up. People who didn't want to go out into the crowds of people over the Holiday weekend could shop from their desk and still get a bunch of great deals...
And this year, we have Small (2 comments)
Senna Hills Homes for Sale - Austin TX - Selling Strong - 11/15/11 08:30 AM
Senna Hills Austin TX is finishing up the year in style, thus far! Many people view the end of the year, after September 1, as "the slow time". This is because school has started and many people looking to get into a new house prior to the school year have either found something already or will wait. It's also slower as the weather changes and we near the holidays. Here in Austin TX, the weather has forgotten to change, which is keeping many buyers and sellers still out in the market. Since September 1, Senna Hills has had 6 homes sold (3 comments)
When Do You Meet Your Buyers - At the Closing Table - 11/14/11 04:53 PM
When do you normally meet your buyers for the first time? Is it (A) at a pre-qualification interview when you want to know what they're looking for and their time frame? Is it (B) after they've spoken with a mortgage person to get pre-approved? Is it (C) at the closing table? A couple of weeks ago, I met my buyers for the very first time at the closing table! No, they were not out of town buyers, as I've worked with those kinds of buyers before and buying a house without seeing it is not a strange situation. This particular situation (50 comments)
Lake Travis - Sometimes Island - Walking Across the Water - 11/14/11 01:31 PM
In Lake Travis, near the 620 Mansfield Dam area, when it doesn't rain for a while, the lake levels drop, and "Sometimes Island" appears in the middle of the main body. Yes, the name is a common sense thing. There is an island "sometimes" as it's usually covered. According to the news station I watch for weather, since October 2010, we're over 25 inches low on average rain fall. Yes, we're in a drought here in Austin TX. Here's a picture of Lake Travis back in April 2011 that I took from the Oasis Restaurant. No Island...

Austin TX Ranks 5th - Best Place for Young Adult Relocation - 11/08/11 03:16 PM
Where are today's Young Adults, aged 25-34, moving to? Austin TX is ranked 5th! Personally, I think they would be ranked higher if they included the ones who moved here first for college and then stayed here, but alas, that wasn't the criteria used. Brookings Institution studies where young adults are moving. They say that prior to the current recession, from 2005-2007, people were moving to places like Phoenix, Arizona and Riverside, CA. Since the Recession, from 2008-2010, young adults are picking different cities, and what they termed "cool cities". Austin TX isn't just a "cool city", but we have (9 comments)

If There Were Three Extra Hours a Week... - 11/07/11 04:58 PM
What would I do if I had 3 extra hours each week? For the first couple of weeks, I would sleep! With the time change on Sunday, my kids didn't understand they were supposed to sleep in, and the baby was up at 4:30am and my daughter was up at 6:15. Ok, sure, no problem... but then this morning, since the feeding and napping schedules were changed a little, he was up from 1:45-3:30am this morning. I was pretty livid. I'm a little sleep deprived, and it's getting to me. I work through it, but sometimes I want to just rest (8 comments)
Mike asked if I would be able to tell them apart if he cropped out only faces. Of course I could! He asked me why I thought so, and I said, "Because I'm their Mother!"
From those of you who have seen pictures of both Alyssa and Landon, can you tell them apart in these pictures?

House Sizes Are Not Bigger in Texas... Ranked 5th in Size - 11/01/11 08:36 PM
Not everything is bigger in Texas... Inman News published a story this morning with the top ten states with the largest houses, and Texas was only Fifth on the list! That means there are 4 other states that feel it's better to be bigger.Just a reminder that these are "Median" numbers and not "Average" numbers, so they do skew information a little. For Texas, it says the Median size home is 2031 sqft while the Median for all of the U.S. is a mere 1761 sqft. Personally, I feel that the U.S. number is skewed in the fact that places with (13 comments)
