activerain: How Do I Get My Followers and Regulars Back? - 08/26/14 01:29 AM
I started blogging back in the Summer of 2006, when ActiveRain was just a couple of weeks old. It was fun to write and that was back when you could write several posts a day, and see your posts on the blog scroll for hours throughout the day.  Now, you're lucky if your post is on the blog scroll for 5 minutes!!
Back about 3 years ago, life got really busy. I had a new baby to go with the jealous 3 year old I had at the time, and I slowed down my blogging... I used to post 40-50 posts … (83 comments)

activerain: I Manage Because I'm Super Woman - 11/18/12 07:05 AM
Do you ever spread yourself so thin, you're trying really hard to keep all your balls in the air? I spent the weekend at Formula 1, post and pictures to come, but also scheduled an appointment to show houses first thing Monday morning.  I'm exhausted... not very smart!
I've already called to schedule all the appointments a few minutes ago, but I still have to map them out, shower, eat dinner, pack my daughter up as I'm sending her to Dallas for the week, and spend time with my kids whom I didn't see all weekend.
I manage because I'm Super … (5 comments)

activerain: Making a List and Checking it Twice - 02/06/12 09:33 AM
I was never a list writer. I could always tell myself what needed to get done, and my memory was awesome, and I hardly forgot a thing... Enter kids...
These days, my memory is shot!  I even write a list for the grocery store.  But get this, even with the list, I still forget some things on the list!!  Not sure how my eyes miss those things...
I hardly write a list for my day to day business stuff. I know what I need to do each day and I get it done.  I've been very busy the past couple of … (21 comments)

activerain: If There Were Three Extra Hours a Week... - 11/07/11 08:58 AM
What would I do if I had 3 extra hours each week?  For the first couple of weeks, I would sleep!  With the time change on Sunday, my kids didn't understand they were supposed to sleep in, and the baby was up at 4:30am and my daughter was up at 6:15.  Ok, sure, no problem... but then this morning, since the feeding and napping schedules were changed a little, he was up from 1:45-3:30am this morning.  I was pretty livid.  I'm a little sleep deprived, and it's getting to me. I work through it, but sometimes I want to just rest … (8 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain - 1Million Point Club Milestone - 09/25/11 10:54 AM
ActiveRain has been a huge part of my business and life for the past 5 years. Over the weekend, I hit a huge milestone. I became the 18th person to hit 1,000,000 points.  I should have hit a million several months ago, but being pregnant last year, and then having the baby this year, I slacked in my blogging, but excuses aside, I came back at full steam last month.

It's often asked what ActiveRain points mean, and you'll receive several different responses.  Russell Ray recently posted what points meant to him, and he did a break down, and I … (193 comments)

activerain: September 2011 Market Reports Challenge - 09/01/11 01:18 AM
September 2011 Market Reports Challenge. If you haven't heard about the challenge, read about it here.
Please post ONLY your Market Reports on this post and not questions about the challenge.
Since I'm making this a public post so we can all get further SEO juice with all the link backs to the different posts about the different markets, it's unnecessary for the consumer to read other remarks, unless you're specifically complimenting someone's market or report or have something to say about their market or report. I will delete them if they are not needed to be seen by the public. … (198 comments)

activerain: I was Recognized at the Salon - Thanks ActiveRain! - 02/08/11 01:06 PM
I took my daughter to get her haircut this weekend. I didn't think the wait would be very long since there were three stylist and only two people ahead of us... but I was wrong...
It was a long wait, and I also had Mr. Man in tow.  As Mr. Man gets fussy, he likes to be swung in his carseat.  That always causes conversation with people about how strong I am and don't my arms hurt, yadda yadda... I even had a client interview last week where I had to bring him, and Mrs Buyer kept trying to get Mr … (21 comments)

activerain: Blogging is Today's "Traditional" Marketing - Another Success Story - 10/05/10 04:14 AM
Donna, Why do you spend so much time blogging? Why?  Because that's where much of my business is coming from! How is that possible? Shouldn't you be doing traditional marketing? Blogging is today's tradition, and it's been tradition for the past few years as well!  Here's my latest example of how my blog works for me. I spoke with a young family on a Friday in July driving back to Houston to close on their previous house. They mentioned they had been following my blog since January, but didn't contact me until July because they had 2 previous buyers on their … (57 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain RainCamp - Dallas TX - WOW!! - 02/18/10 01:09 AM
Raincamp, Raincamp... What can be said about ActiveRain's Raincamp that was put on in Dallas TX a couple of days ago? WOW!! I was blown away, and I'm not one to get blown away with things like this.  I usually like to sit with my arms crossed saying, "What an idiot!  No one does that these days to help their real estate businesses..." as that's exactly what was I saying when I stupidly sat at a Craig Proctor seminar for two hours the day before. I figured I was in Dallas, what the heck.  HUGE waste of time.  Raincamp, not a … (52 comments)

activerain: Rebut to "No Time for Blogging"... - 01/30/10 02:09 AM
Why stop blogging when you're busy?  This morning, I read a post by Amy Hahn that was featured and discussed how she has to stop blogging because the blogging worked to grow her business. Does that make sense?  Something is working, so let's stop doing it?  What amazed me even more is that all the comments were just about congratulating her on getting the new leads and referrals.  Not a single person, until my comment, pointed out that if she stops doing what she's doing, the leads and referrals are going to stop coming in too. Doesn't that make more sense? … (56 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain RainCamp - New York - January 12, 2010 - 01/06/10 12:08 PM
I'm so glad I take the time to read people's posts to learn new things because this evening, I clicked into Brad Andersohn's blog only to find out that RainCamp is coming to New York next week, January 12, 2010, and I'm the topic!! Yes, lil 'ol me and my blog will be the topic discussing how I've made a nice income just from blogging and the relationships I've developed right here in the Rain. If you're going to be in New York for this event, let me know how it goes.  If you're not going to be in New York, … (20 comments)

activerain: Memories at ActiveRain - My Blogging Dedication - 09/28/09 03:09 AM
I have been with ActiveRain since they were a mere 3 weeks old.  I am member number 471 out of the current 160,289 members!

Over the months and years, I have blogged about many things.  I've blogged about my listing appointments, my buyer appointments, why I turned down a listing, why I fired some buyers, and many more topics.

I've also blogged about my family and activities we do through the year, like Zilker Park, the Bounce Houses, and the Zoo.

The memory that I can never forget, because it seems like no one here at ActiveRain has … (21 comments)

activerain: 500,000 Points and $122,000 Later! - 08/12/09 01:47 AM
I've been so busy lately that it took someone else pointing out that I passed 500,000 points to realize I had done it.  I read lots of people getting excited about their points, but yet, most don't have anything to show for it.
What do the 500,000+ points mean to me?  Since I joined in 2006, ActiveRain has put over $122,000 into my pocket, spread over 17 different buyers and sellers.  That's a lot of "FREE" money, if you want to look at it like that.  I know that's chump change for some of you, but I'm in a market where … (88 comments)

activerain: Come on ActiveRain, the Error Messages are Getting OLD - 11/03/08 05:35 AM
This is ridiculous!  It took me over 2 hours to most my last blog about Alyssa's 1st Halloween.  I would have given up, but I've gotten several requests from people wanting to see pictures, so I had to get it posted.
I understand AR is growing and that you like to use the toilet analogy, but it makes no sense when the same amount of people are consistently in line.  By that, I mean, the membership count has increased, but the amount of people online connected to the site has not changed.  We average around 1500-2000 people at any given time.
It … (22 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain Membership Surpasses the Number of RE/MAX Associates - 09/08/08 02:31 PM
A few days ago, a HUGE milestone was hit.  ActiveRain's membership actually surpassed the total number of agents that are associated with RE/MAX.
RE/MAX has 107,093 membersin 6995 offices in more than 65 countries (I just happened to be on their main site this evening looking at stuff pertaining to my move).  I'm not sure how many countries ActiveRain is in, but I think it's still just the U.S. and Canada, and we're sitting pretty at 107,975 members.
I love that I have associated myself with two top dogs in this industry.
What makes the numbers interesting is that RE/MAX is in several … (14 comments)

activerain: How Do You Compare to Others? - 07/31/08 01:30 AM
How great is your life?  Do you ever wonder how you stack up to others in your level of happiness?  Since people liked the grammar quiz yesterday, I found this quiz and thought it would be interesting to see how others score.
I didn't actually score very high.  I think the item that brought me down was the question about friends as I don't have many "close" friends and need/want more.
It's strange because there's that old saying that says something about how other people can't make you happy, you can only make yourself happy... but I've got to tell you, … (16 comments)

activerain: Featured Member Spotlight - 07/18/08 01:34 AM
WOW!  Can you believe it?  I check my emails yesterday, as I do every 2 seconds, and I get the ActiveRain newsletter.  I usually skim through it fairly quickly, but then head to the featured blog pages if a title caught my attention.  I was scrolling and scrolling and about to click out of that and into my next email when I saw a face I recognized.
It was MY face!  I was highlighted in the Member Spotlight section.  They even mentioned my birthday and my daughter.  How very interesting.  I had just assumed that they were taking excerpts from the … (15 comments)

activerain: The Word is Out- ActiveRain shows up on Supra's Survey - 04/14/08 06:41 AM
Apparantly, the word is out on how addictive ActiveRain is.  My local association (MetroTex Association of Realtors) sent their weekly email yesterday, and within the email was a link to take a survey from GE's Supra to help them design a new lockbox.
One of the questions was:
9. What software applications are of interest to you on a smartphone?
I did not mark that answer as I don't use my Treo for blogging and can't see myself using it for blogging in the future because the keys are too small and my mind goes faster than my fingers can press those tiny buttons, … (13 comments)

This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country.  Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different.  Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between.  Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!!  Come back often!
