austin: Pace Bend Park - Pedernales River - Lake Travis - Triple Digit Temps - 06/22/11 05:48 AM
Pace Bend Park in Spicewood TX is a great place to spend those triple digit degree days!!  Pace Bend Park is off the Pedernales River that is a branch off from Lake Travis.  The water is pretty low right now, but that just meant we had to be careful about some of the old tree stumps sticking up on the beach.  This is a park where many people bring their trailers and RV's and camp over night. Some people just bring tents, but there is 1000s of acres of land for camping and such.  We have a Travis County annual pass, … (1 comments)

austin: Austin TX Home Builders - New Construction Homes - Covering Up a Potential Problem? - 11/08/10 03:27 AM
Building a New Construction home can be a good experience, or it can be a frustrating experience. It almost depends on how much of the process you see and pay attention to. Many people building a home very rarely stop by the house to check on it and see the progress. Others like to visit at least once a week and give the builder a list of issues each time. A few months ago, I posted about a house being built across the street from me and how the plumbing was protruding through the slab that was poured.  I really thought … (5 comments)

austin: Day 4 of Rain Rain and Even More Rain - 04/28/09 05:43 AM
Thus far, it's been raining the entire time I've been in Austin!  Granted, that's only 4 days, but still, it's 100% of the time!  It is so humid, my hair is sticking up on ends.  I feel all sticky!
The dog has been a nightmare because we don't want him in the house getting under our feet while we're unpacking, but it's all wet outside... we have a covered patio that he has made his home during the days.
We've been trying to get DirecTv set up, but after an hour at the house yesterday, the guy wimped out with all … (6 comments)

austin: Relocating- First Hand Experience Part 13 - 01/04/09 08:21 AM
I'm going to just vent for a minute, because I don't think I've done enough of that.
Look at these pictures:

Do I even have to explain what's wrong here?  I want to scream.  We sent my in-laws over to the house today because we had not heard from our new builder since we met with him over a week ago.  We were afraid nothing was getting changed, and of course, we were right.
However, they did start to stucco and brick the house.  What that did was make two HUGE mistakes scream out at me.  Look at that squared … (20 comments)

austin: Relocating- First Hand Experience Part 7 - 11/30/08 03:46 AM
The house is coming along nicely.  We're going to be in Austin Tuesday and Wednesday for some first-hand looks at the progress, but here are some pictures my in-laws took this week.  As you can see, the plumbing is in and the duct work for the AC is in.  The brick and the bathtubs have been delivered as well.
Look at the view!  We have already talked with the builder about talking with the city to remove some of the dead tree in the tree line so we could have more of a view.
Things are coming along smoothly.

austin: Relocating- First Hand Experience Part 1 - 08/15/08 05:40 AM
Boy have I been busy... busy turning off my business!  Since the move to Austin is definite, I can't keep building new business in Dallas, or I'll be throwing money down the toilet.  I like to keep as much money in my pockets as I can as I have plenty of other expenses to spend it on.
This week, I stopped all my lead generation programs.  Those were the hardest calls and emails to send.  Oh no, I'm still going to be in Dallas for at least the next 6 months!  Am I going to be able to continue my current … (9 comments)

austin: Are We Moving to Austin?? UnBelievable Update - 08/08/08 08:09 AM
I'm not even going to beat around the bush with this one, as the usual me would tease you a little bit before giving an answer.  The short answer is, YES, we are moving to Austin.  We put a contract on a new home this past Sunday, and the builder approved it on Monday.
We decided on Falconhead West.  We will be on the North side of the community with views of, whatever it is that's out there, and backing to a bunch of trees.  Personally, I'm not a "view" type of person, so I have no idea what it is … (27 comments)

austin: Dallas verse Austin Update - 06/25/08 02:36 PM
As of today, it looks like we're probably going to stay in Dallas.  We have been running the numbers constantly, nonstop for the past few weeks.  Mike and I have talked more in the past few weeks than we've talked in our 5+ relationship... well, not really, but pretty darn close to it.
We've even found a house in Austin we've put an offer on.  We had decided on Falconhead West. The house will be complete in October time frame...
After running numbers, even though the cost of living calculators show Austin is less expensive than Dallas, it's really not.  To … (22 comments)

austin: Austin vs Dallas- I need Honest Opinions - 05/18/08 01:36 AM
It looks as though I might "have to" relocate to Austin.  It a really bad time for me because my business is BOOMING, but my husband might be told that he has an option of being laid off or move to Austin.  He's from Austin (well, lived there from when he was 8 years old), but has been in Dallas for 10 years.  He doesn't understand how much Austin has changed and thinks it's the same 'ol small town, though he voices his frustration of the growth each time we go to visit his family.
I am looking for opinions from … (19 comments)

This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country.  Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different.  Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between.  Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!!  Come back often!
