austin tx wildlife: Wordless Wednesday - UnWelcomed Guests - 07/20/11 04:19 PM
I was cleaning off my table the other day and out of my peripheral version, I saw something black on my shirt. I went to brush it off me and mid-brush, I noticed "it" had pinchers. I went to look at the ground, and saw it was this enormous scorpion... Then, I went to get a penny to have reference to the size, and realized just how HUGE this nasty creature is!! I don't care that it was smaller than my pinky nail, that is still gross!! Now I know how those big ones get in my house... they

austin tx wildlife: Foto Friday - Austin TX Good Luck Creatures - 09/17/10 04:37 PM
What is Alyssa pointing at?? It's a lizard of course! They're all over the place. It's a known fact that having lizards around your house brings good luck. She loves pointing them out, so this time I took a picture of it! **Are You Packed Yet?** Donna Harris, REALTOR®RE/MAX Austin Skylinewww.DonnaHomes.comaDonna@DonnaHomes.com Austin TX Real Estate and the surrounding areas of Lakeway, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Spicewood, Circle-C, Steiner Ranch, and everywhere in between... austin tx wildlife: Falconhead West - Bee Cave - Austin TX - Snake in the Pond - 09/12/10 09:06 PM
I'm getting some anxiety about having a boy... today, I met with an old friend I've known since Junior High. We lost touch through college and recently got back in contact. She brought her 10 year old boy and 6 year old daughter over to go to the park this afternoon. At 10 years old, this boy doesn't know what "gross" is!! He was in the muddy pond water up to his tush! He found a snake and brought it up to us. GROSS! Alyssa thought it was cool and watched it awhile as it slithered in his hands and on

austin tx wildlife: Speechless Sunday - More Austin TX Creatures - 09/05/10 06:59 PM
This spider has been making its rounds around our house. It started on our master bedroom window. Then is was on the back porch. I guess there weren't enough insects, so she moved to the kitchen window... and her last stop thus far is the side garage door. Why do I call her a "she"? According to the internet, the females get to be just over two inches whereas the males are barely 3/4 inches. This one is HUGE! **Are You Packed Yet?** Donna Harris, REALTOR®RE/MAX Austin Skylinewww.DonnaHomes.comaDonna@DonnaHomes.com Austin TX Real Estate and the surrounding areas of Lakeway, Bee Cave,

austin tx wildlife: Wordless Wednesday - Confused Trees Not Changing Colors - 11/18/09 02:12 PM
I'm not sure this tree knows what season it is. This tree is in Falconhead Bee Cave TX, but this is what most all the trees look like in and around Austin TX right now. It's been unseasonably warm, and the trees aren't sure to change colors and drop their leaves yet... **Are You Packed Yet?** Donna Harris, REALTOR®RE/MAX Austin Skylinewww.DonnaHomes.comDonna@DonnaHomes.com Austin TX Real Estate and the surrounding areas of Lakeway, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Spicewood, Circle-C, Steiner Ranch, and everywhere in between... austin tx wildlife: Austin TX Wildlife - A Creature Around Every House - 10/15/09 04:30 PM
Austin TX Wildlife in and around new home communities is always interesting to see. Here is my newest find on our back steps. There are two, but I couldn't get the other one in a good pose. As you can see, compared to the penny, these are tiny little guys. So cute. Alyssa and I were poking them with blades of grass to make them hop. Each time, Alyssa would say, "Ribbit ribbit." Here are some of the other Austin TX Wildlife creatures I've found in and around my home. The Mommy Toad to these two babies, I assume The

austin tx wildlife: Austin TX Insects- I Found a Tarantula on My House! - 10/08/09 01:00 PM
The Austin TX Insects are getting worse and worse... Look what we found on the side of our house yesterday!! This picture was taken from about 8 feet away because my husband reminded me that Tarantulas can jump up to 10 feet, so I wasn't comfortable getting any closer. My neighbors even came out to see what the commotion was as they're from Wisconsin and had never seen on before. Granted, I've lived in Texas over 25 years and I've never seen one in person before!! It was more disturbing when it jumped off and started walking in the grass.

austin tx wildlife: Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary - Party with the Tigers - 10/02/09 05:27 PM
Party at the Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary! As you can see below, the Tigers will join in with you as they have their own pool furnished with their own kegs! They had two of them between three tigers. I'm just kidding because there is no alcohol allowed, but it was hilarious watching the Tiger attack the keg and splash around. Why is a beer keg the toy of choice?? I wonder how parents explain that one to kids who are old enough to ask questions like that. Makes you wonder... Below are a couple of more pictures from our

austin tx wildlife: Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary - Austin TX - 09/27/09 01:08 PM
The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is located in Austin just West of the 71 and 290 "Y". Lions and Tigers and Bears... in Austin? That's right! Did you know that Austin TX has a Zoo? Alyssa and I visited the Austin Zoo on Friday with about 50 of our friends from the Lakeway and Bee Cave Meetup.com group. The group is always looking for new and exciting things to do to introduce our kids to new things. Before going, I was told it was a Rescue Zoo. I assumed that meant it was very small without too much

austin tx wildlife: Spicewood TX Real Estate- Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?? - 09/21/09 10:10 AM
Spicewood TX Real Estate is unique with houses next to farms. I was leaving a listing appointment in Spicewood TX on Saturday afternoon. I pulled out of their driveway, turned right, and almost immediately had to slam on my breaks... Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road? The old answer is still correct, to get to the other side. There was no rhyme or reason for these chickens and roosters and hens and GOATS to be out roaming around. However, they felt as soon as I pulled up, they had this urge to get to the other side. So,

austin tx wildlife: Austin TX Wildlife - Austin TX Insects - 09/06/09 02:41 PM
I've been having fun capturing all the interesting Austin TX Wildlife and Austin TX Insects that I'm finding around my house and neighborhood. Backing to a wooded, greenbelt area brings in more creatures than interior properties. This one actually stopped flying long enough for me to get a pretty good picture of it. No blurry, flapping wings, but completely in focus. It's beautiful! **Are You Packed Yet?** Donna Harris, REALTOR®RE/MAX Austin Skylinewww.DonnaHomes.comDonna@DonnaHomes.com Austin TX Real Estate and thesurrounding areas of Lakeway, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Cedar Park,Round Rock, Spicewood, Circle-C, Steiner Ranch, and everywhere inbetween... austin tx wildlife: Will Austin TX Weather Break a Record this Summer? - 08/07/09 02:36 PM
Today is day 48 of OVER 100 degree weather! The heat is rather ridiculous if you ask me... and anyone else around here! Here are some numbers to know: 69 days over 100 in 192566 days over 100 in 192350 days over 100 in 2008 After the weekend, we could very easily move into the third spot. August is traditionally the hottest month of the year so we have plenty of time to hit another 19 days over 100 to climb to the top of the list. Do I want to break the record? Yes, but NO. I'm sick of the

austin tx wildlife: Bambi Needs Help Finding a House - 08/05/09 10:29 AM
Can you help me and Bambi and the rest of my family find a home? There are lots of deer running through my neighborhood of Falconhead West in Bee Cave, TX, but it was even more amazing to find this tree that looks so much like a deer, right down the street from my house. From this angle, you can see he has found his way to the Model Homes (per the sign in the background, in case you missed it). **Are You Packed Yet?** Donna Harris, REALTOR®RE/MAX Austin Skylinewww.DonnaHomes.comDonna@DonnaHomes.com Austin, TX and the surrounding areas of Lakeway, Bee Cave,

austin tx wildlife: Another Austin TX Creature - 08/05/09 09:56 AM
Every chance I get, I've been posting pictures of the creatures and critters I see in and around my house. Some look friendly, while other's look not-so-friendly. Here is our latest friend that we encountered. Oscar (the dog) didn't quite know what to do with him. He was scared at first as it hopped around. But then he put his paw out in friendly play. Mr. Toad allowed me to snap a couple of pictures before hopping under the BBQ grill for "safety". **Are You Packed Yet?** Donna Harris, REALTOR®RE/MAX Austin Skylinewww.DonnaHomes.comDonna@DonnaHomes.com Austin, TX and the surrounding areas of Lakeway,

austin tx wildlife: Can You Identify this Creature? - 06/25/09 08:28 AM
You guys did so well helping me figure out what this creature was, the katydid, that I've got another one for you... What is this?? Here it is laying on its back kicking up its legs and I have it compared to a penny. Here it is completely stretched out hanging on to the side of the step for dear life. My husband called it a twig bug, as the body did look like a twig from a tree, but I've never heard of such a thing.... but I haven't heard of many of these new bugs I'm seeing. Wait
