baby harris: BabyHarris2 Update - Week 35 - Home Stretch - 10/20/10 01:36 PM
I haven't given an update about BabyHarris2 since week 19. Lots has happened since then. I'm currently in week 35!! In so many ways, time has gone by really fast. In other ways, it's been pretty slow... For those who don't recall, the baby is a boy. No, we don't have a name yet. Up until a couple of days ago, he was breech. I spent a lot of time freaking out about getting a C-Section. I tried almost everything to get him to flip. I was hanging upside down, which I'm sure was a funny site. I put a cold

baby harris: Alyssa Rolls Over for the First Time!! - 02/29/08 05:56 PM
Alyssa is 15 weeks old today, and she hit another milestone as well. Today, at approximately 4:30pm, Alyssa rolled over for the first time! She had a great day playing hookie from school. She talked all day. I was running out of things to talk to her about. Yes, me running out of things to say is scary...She played on her Einstein mat for over an hour just yappin' away. She also had a dirty diaper, so I was expecting her to become fussy at any time, but she never did. After an hour, I decided it was time to change

baby harris: Alyssa Playing Hookie- Is it OK at 12 weeks? - 02/13/08 09:22 AM
Alyssa started daycare last week. It wasn't a full week because we played hookie on Friday. I then took her again on Monday. Monday night, she was coughing at 2am. I was livid! 5 days at daycare and already sit?! She had no fever, and was happy as ever, so I took her back yesterday. I walked in and asked which kid had been coughing on mine. They felt really bad, but apparently, they were all sniffly so no big deal to leave. She sounded worse last night, but she slept through the night, 9 hours! Got up this morning, still happy

baby harris: Alyssa Turned 2 Months Old - 01/22/08 06:59 PM
I can't believe time is flying! Alyssa turned 2 months old last week, and we went to JCPenney to get some professional pictures taken. She didn't really care for the day, but things turned out well. I wanted her to look like a snow bunny in her (faux) fur coat and preppy in her argyle sweater, but she preferred her diaper in my arms... She's my little kosher ham!

baby harris: Alyssa Releases Stress in her Bumbo - 01/18/08 06:47 PM
I might be prejudice, but this is one of the cutest things ever... turn your volume up and get ready to dance! The Bumbo is not supposed to be used until 3 months of age, but I put her in it last week to check her neck control, and she loves it! She is 9 weeks today... time is flying!! She'll be riding a bike in no time!

baby harris: New Years Goal- Lose the Baby Weight- Anyone Wanna Join the Challenge? - 12/31/07 10:03 AM
Tomorrow starts a new year. Alyssa is now 6 weeks and 3 days old. I am now starting to get more exercise. I've been up and moving around since day one since I didn't have a maternity leave, but I'm now getting outside and walking the dog like I used to, and it's definitely making me feel so much better. Several months ago, I challenged one of my clients. The challenge is the first person to lose 20 pounds after Jan 1 wins... Wins what? We're not sure yet. Maybe it's just bragging rights, we keep putting off the actual prize. The

baby harris: Alyssa Made it to 1 Month Old... is that all?? - 12/16/07 02:56 PM
As many of you are keeping track of, Alyssa was born on November 16. Today is December 16, which makes her 1 month old today. To be exact, she is 4 weeks and 2 days old... I can't believe it's only been a month. In so many ways, it seems like so much longer. She has definitely had a hard day. It started out posing for pictures in which, you can see from the photo where she's propping her head up, she got a little borded... Then, she had to get ready for the big game so on goes the Cowboy's outfit.

baby harris: Alyssa's First Real Estate Appt- She Sold Her First House! - 12/06/07 09:51 AM
Yesterday was a HUGE day for 19 day old Alyssa! She had her very first real estate appointment and turned in her first contract. It was a HUD home. She even stayed patient as she went to Bank of America with the buyer to get an updated approval letter to submit with the package. The loan officer didn't have authority to give us a new approval letter, and Alyssa kept her cool. We did get an approval letter, and then off to HUD to turn in the contract so we didn't have to Fed Ex it overnight, since it was just

baby harris: BabyHarris Update- She Has Arrived and Finally Has a Name!!! - 11/21/07 03:19 PM
Alyssa Nicole Harris, aka BabyHarris, has arrived!! November 16, 2007 at 9:54am7 lbs 4.3 oz and 19 1/4 inches As many of you remember, I was blogging while in labor. That was lots of fun! No epidural until 2:30am. I'm not sure many of you know this, but according to the anesthesiologist, I'm "high strung" and I "don't know how to relax" so the epidural took 45 minutes to be put in place. Yes, 45 minutes. Not 4-5 minutes like most people, but actually 45 minutes! Granted, I have a high pain tolerance, but man oh man, I have no idea how

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 11/15/07- WATER BROKE! Currently at Hospital in Labor - 11/15/07 11:51 PM
No one thought I would actually do it, but here I am in labor at the hospital and I'm posting a blog!!! My water broke at 7:20pm Central time, and it's currently 11:45pm. I'm on a Pitocin drip to help increase the contractions for more consistency. I'm SOOOO thirsty but no fluids allowed. My doctor said it was ok, but the anesthesiologist person said no... I can eat popsicles though. I'll post again after the baby gets here!! YEAH!!

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 11/12/2007- Back at Hospital;Still No Baby - 11/12/07 01:04 PM
This has been a very frustrating weekend... still no baby. After spending 9 hours at the hospital Saturday night into Sunday, we were back at the hospital Sunday night at 10:30pm... Still no baby! The on-call doctor was just so worried about when my doctor would be back in town and she seems "scared" to so anything. I did go to my regular doctor this morning and told him all about the weekend. He said that he believes that doctor is more used to working with HMOs and not PPOs and she was acting accordingly. I was like, she should have asked

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 11/11/07- Spent Night in Hospital - 11/11/07 09:42 AM
Yesterday, I started having some pretty good contractions. About 9pm, I noticed they were about 6-7 minutes apart. I called the on-call doctor since mine is out of town. She told me to give it an hour. I gave it 2 hours... At midnight, we gathered all the stuff needed, and we headed to the hospital. Contractions were coming 1-2 minutes apart and 4-5 minutes apart... but didn't dilate past 2cm, so they just sent me home. Being sent home was good because I can actually eat something as I'm starving, but I don't like being sent home because the contractions are so

baby harris: Using Your Kids as Walking Advertisements - 11/07/07 09:39 PM
Is it wrong to use your kid to advertise?? This was one of my baby shower gifts. I thought it was so cute. In case you can't read it, it says: Houses for Saledonna@donnahomes.com The size is for 18 months so she'll be a "walking" advertisement instead of a "crawling" one where you wouldn't be able to read it as it's on the front. I got a couple of others too. One says "My Mommy WILL sell your House" and the other one says, "Realtor in Training". It was very creative of my friend to think of this as she created them herself. What

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 11/6/2007- Week 38 - 11/06/07 04:02 PM
Well, I just got back from the doctor's... I'm a couple of days early of 38 weeks, but my doctor is going to a wedding and will be gone from Thursday thru Sunday, so I had to have my appt today. I'm having contractions, but they are not consistant. They are either 20-25 minutes apart or they're more like 40-45 minutes apart. We need to get those closer together! I'm about 2cm dilated, but still not enough to strip the membranes to do much of anything. It's another week of waiting, as I don't really want to go into labor with him gone

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 11/2/2007- Week 37 - 11/02/07 10:53 AM
So frustrating, so frustrating!!! At today's appointment, it looks like she is just "baked" enough. I am retaining so much water, it's starting to concern my doctor, but still not signs up pre-eclampsia. My hands are so red and I can barely type at times because my fingers are so swollen, I can barely bend them, especially in the mornings. My knees are getting much worse and it's hurting to walk. Blood is pooling behind my right knee which is causing more pain. However, blood pressure is still fine, 118/60 so he sees no reason to actually induce as he still thinks it

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 10/25/2007 Week 36 - 10/25/07 04:16 PM
Today was my 36 week appointment for BabyHarris (still no name, but we might be getting closer). We're right around the corner now!! My blood pressure is still low, at 98/56, even after all the stresses of this past week. I'm very surprised! My blood work came back from last week's appt and my white blood cell count is out of range, high, and so is something else. The nurse said that white blood cells go up when the body is trying to fight off infection. My doctor is not worried because he said that it's typical for someone at this stage of

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 10/16/2007 - 10/16/07 01:11 PM
I had my 34 week appointment yesterday. Everything is still going along very smoothly. This appointment consisted of the final blood test and also a swab test for Strepp. I was measuring at 35 weeks so a few days larger than I should be, but it's all an estimate unless the measurements are further off. Yes, I gained MORE weight, but not gonna tell you what it is. I figured that at this point, I'll just give a final number on the last day, but let's just say the number is MUCH higher than I ever expected!!! My next appt is Oct 25

baby harris: BabyHarris Update- Week 32 - 10/01/07 03:14 PM
I had another doctor's appointment this morning as I'm now at an every two weeks schedule. This is week 32. My blood pressure has increased a little, up to 100/60. It's still normal, but higher than what I have been at. I broke the scale, but that's ok because I'm sure they have another in the back... the number is getting very scary, but don't feel so bad when people keep telling me I look like "all baby", though I can definitely feel it all over!! The heartrate has dropped, but I think it's because she decided to take a nap right before

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 9/18/2007 - 09/18/07 12:22 PM
Here's another long awaited BabyHarris update! I went to the doctor's today with an entire list of questions. I love my doctor. He spent over 30 minutes with me going over all my questions and even gave me another ultrasound to ease a couple of my concerns! Most doctors are like in and out in under 5 minutes. BabyHarris is currently 30 weeks and 5 days. One of my concerns was the amniotic fluid because it measured low at my 21 week ultrasound, so he did a quick measurement today and I'm at 14 cm. Amniotic fluid should be between 5-25 cm, and

baby harris: BabyHarris Update 9/5/2007- Allergic to Baby - 09/05/07 09:17 AM
I just wanted to post a brief update since a few people have asked... Yes, I passed the 3 hour diabetes glucose test. This required about 16 hours of fasting, which is not good when you have a hungry baby!! I got very pail and pasty and the people at the lab were concerned and wanted to give me water or food so bad. I almost passed out... they gave me a patient room with a cot in it and told me to lay down. So I got a little rest in between blood draws. They did allow me a little teaser
