forbes: Austin TX - America's Fastest Growing City Third Year in a Row- Forbes - 02/01/13 12:25 AM
Austin tops Forbes' list of America's Fastest Growing Cities for the THIRD year in a row!! Amazing!!  We're definitely seeing all the growth as more and more neighborhoods are starting as other neighborhoods are in close-out and the builders need to stay busy.  The area is growing so much that some areas that were once considered "rural" are losing their USDA 0% down payment elegibility in March because they are not "rural" anymore. They're just part of the Austin "sprawl" as many like to call it.
Austin is ranked First, Houston is ranked Second, and Dallas is ranks Third.  I think … (4 comments)

forbes: Austin TX Ranked #2 - Best Cities to Buy a Home Right Now - Forbes - 04/16/12 11:56 PM
Forbes has another new list and Austin TX is ranked #2 for The Best Cities to Buy a Home Right Now. It's so true! Our Austin Real Estate Market is really pumped up. In many areas, there are multiple offers on most homes, in all different price points. Just this month, I had a multiple offer on a house listed at $112,000 but also on $485,000. The one at $485k had 40 offers!  I have one right now that is listed right below $250k and there are 9 offers. We have to submit the multiple offer addendum today to stay in … (7 comments)

forbes: Word of Mouth is Powerful - 09/02/11 07:44 AM
Relocation to Austin TX is huge for several reasons.  Besides being at the top of so many lists, word of mouth is just as powerful. I have relocation buyers coming into town next week. I asked them why they chose Austin TX to relocate to.  The response was, "We were on vacation in Costa Rico recently and it seemed like everyone we met was from Texas. No one had a bad thing to say about Texas, and they said if we were to move anywhere, it needed to be Austin because of what it has to offer, so we contacted you." … (7 comments)

forbes: Austin TX Makes Another Forbes Magazine Llist - 10 Markets Most Likely to Appreciate - 09/24/10 03:10 AM
Austin TX makes another Forbes magazine list for 10 Markets Most Likely to Appreciate. Though we didn't top the list, Austin TX real estate came in third! A real estate research firm, Local Market Monitor, looked at a mix of jobs and growth industries, in addition to markets that were seeing a large influx of population growth prior to the down turn, in which Austin TX saw a 16% population growth in the prior five years. The article was quick to point out that they aren't trying to predict what markets will have a massive jump in home prices. They're just … (3 comments)

forbes: Austin TX - Ranks Fifth Best Place to Retire - 03/20/10 12:54 PM
Austin TX makes the number five spot for "100 Best Places to Retire" for 2010 according to TopRetirements.com.
This list has only been published since 2007, so it's definitely not a list that is set in its ways for years and years. However, the top four spots have been unchanged with Asheville NC, Sarasota, FL, Prescott, AZ, and Paris, TN. Austin TX moved up to the number 5 spot from last year's number 9 spot. That's a great jump, and also goes along with the latest Forbes survey of Austin TX being the number one area of easing out of the … (13 comments)

forbes: Austin Round Rock TX - Forbes' Top Spot for the Recession Easing - 03/19/10 04:50 AM
Austin Round Rock TX - Tied Washington DC area for Forbes.com number 1 spot for the "Cities Where the Recession is Easing."  Just another reason why buyers should be getting off the fence and moving on with their lives instead of worrying about the National News!!

Between December 2007 and December 2009, when the rest of the country was having lots of job losses, Austin TX jobs increased 0.98%.  The estimate of job growth prediction over the next three years is said to be just over 8% with Dallas TX just behind at a little over 7%.  This is great … (4 comments)

forbes: The Best City for Recession Recovery is Austin TX - 07/27/09 05:47 AM
According to Forbes, the Austin-Round Rock, TX area is the BEST city for Recession Recovery across the country.
Why?  Many factors...
One is that unemployment is low at 5.8% (however, the local news reported unemployment even lower, at 5.4% so I'm not sure which number is correct).
Second is that the area has a very diverse economy from Tech jobs at Dell to Government jobs at the State Capital, to Teaching jobs at The University of Texas.
Third is that Austin, like many Texas cities, did not have a "bubble" like what happened in other states.  Granted, there are pockets of … (4 comments)

forbes: Austin TX on the Top of Forbes' America's Best Bargain Cities - 05/15/09 07:17 AM
Released a couple of days ago, Austin TX tops Forbes.com's list of America's Best Bargain Cities.  All 5 of Texas' largest cities made the top 10, Dallas, Houston, Ft Worth, and San Antonio.
Not a single Texas city made the most overpriced list.
Whhy did Austin TX top this list?  Several reasons.  The main one is that Austin has the lowest unemployment rate in the entire country at only 5.5%.
Not only is Austin the Capital, but it's also steered by the Technology industry and the University of Texas.
When I talk with people about the market in Austin, the biggest … (3 comments)

This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country.  Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different.  Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between.  Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!!  Come back often!
