The Bee Cave Rotary is sponsoring a charity event called Bites of Bee Cave. This Bites of Bee Cave charity event will be at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave TX on October 1, 2011 at 11am - 4pm. There are going to be many different restaurants present, and your $10 admission will get you up to 15 "Bites" from several of those restaurants. Everything goes to benefit the Kids in Crisis Charity. Some of the restaurants that will be there are Iron Cactus, Hill Country Pasta House, Two Hot Mama's Grill, Busters BBQ, Verdes Mexican, and many others.

St. David's 24 hour Emergency Center has opened at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave TX. This is the first ER in the Lake Travis area. The Lake Travis area, for many years, was considered a vacation place, a place for second homes and retirees.

Austin TX is hosting a City-Wide Bake Sale that supports Pediatric Cancer research, Cookies for Kids' Cancer. Cookies for Kids' Cancer raises funds through these local bake sales across the country. What is Cookies for Kids' Cancer? It was founded by a mother, Gretchen Witt, who lost her son to cancer this past January after being diagnosed in 2007. She found that the survival rate was so low because of the lack of funding for research of therapies. Here in Austin TX, the fundraising has been taken over by a group called Austin's Good Cookies. Is it your dream to appear on American Idol? If it is, show up at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave TX on August 10th and try out for Austin's Idol, hosted by Fox. Apparently, if you win the Austin version, you'll be able to be first in line at the Houston auditions for American Idol on August 24th.

Fourth of July Fireworks have been canceled throughout most of the Austin TX areas. We are under a burn ban because of the current drought conditions and the Austin Fire Department as well as the Travis County Fire Marshall is denying all permits for fireworks shows.
The main one in Austin TX sponsored by the Austin Symphony will still play music and do a show. They're thinking maybe laser, but they're also prepared to submit another permit request if we get some rain between now and then. Barnes and Noble at the Bee Cave TX, Hill Country Galleria presented story time with the Cat in the Hat over the weekend. There were lots of kids ranging in all ages from as young as my Landon of 9 weeks old to about age 8.
Here are a couple of pictures.
The first Saturday of every month, the Hill Country Galleria Barnes and Noble in Bee Cave Austin TX presents a different story and different character. We try to make it every month. Come on out and meet us there!

I took Alyssa to see her very first movie today, Tangled, and the Cinemark at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave TX. She was so little, she couldn't keep the seat down so she said she would stand up the entire time. After about 10 minutes, she said her legs hurt, so I put her on my lap.
About 50 minutes into it, she says she wants to go home.. and another 10 minutes later... and another 15 minutes later...
We did manage to sit through the entire movie and she said she liked it. Below is her review:

The City of Bee Cave and the Hill Country Galleria are teaming up to host a parade on January 16, 2011 at 2pm for the 2010 State Champion Lake Travis High School Lady Cavelier Volleyball team and the 4-time Class 4A State Champions football team!
The party will begin at 12pm with music in the amphitheatre across from the Bee Cave Library and the Bee Cave City Hall.

From 10am-9pm, there will be Eurobungee and a Rock Climbing Wall. Wish I could do that, but I'm sure my belly would get in the way! From 3pm-7pm, there will be Bat Puppet Crafts by Art Attack. The Bee Cave Public Library at the Hill Country Galleria is holding their awards ceremony and concert with Joe McDermott on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 1pm. I'm thinking we're going to have to not do a nap that day in order to make it. What awards? The Summer reading awards! All children in the area who read for at least 400 minutes thus far this summer, and actually turned in their reading logs, will all receive an award of a Reach for the Stars t-shirt and other prizes. The Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave TX hosts SpringFest 2010 on Saturday, April 24. There are going to be lots of activities for everyone, including a BBQ cook off, a margarita contest, and bounce houses for the kids. At the Learning Express Toys, Cinderella and Batman will make an appearance from 12:30-6pm. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, and we're definitely looking forward to it. Here's a TV commercial about the SpringFest 2010 at the Hill Country Galleria, though I honestly have not seen it on TV...

The Kent Cummins Magic Camp at the Hill Country Galleria Barnes & Noble is fun for everyone! Yesterday, I took Alyssa to Barnes & Noble for their Magic Camp Circus. It was supposed to be from 2-4pm, but someone got their information wrong, and when we got there at almost 3pm, it was already over... Kent Cummins, the owner of Magic Camp, was right there and I asked him if he was planning another act. He was a little confused until his helpers did confirm that the flier I saw did say 2-4pm. This was Alyssa's first time to trick or treat as last year, she wasn't even one yet, and she didn't like her ladybug costume.We had visited the Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary a couple of times, and she became obsessed with the Tigers and "big cats" so I bought her a Leopard costume.
