lake austin: Lake Austin - Three Times in One Week - Boat is Working Again! - 09/29/11 05:07 PM
After breaking down in the boat on Lake Austin on Saturday, Mike spent the next couple of days ordering new parts for the Supra Launch, waiting for the parts to come in, and then working on it the past couple of days. We took it for a test drive this afternoon, and it seems to all be working again. Two ew fuel pumps, in addition to a new steering cable, and other stuff I helped with and don't know what it was... This was my third time wakeboarding in one week! I haven't done that in a couple of years! I'm

lake austin: Lake Austin - Summer isn't Over in Austin TX - Boat Broke Down - Sea Tow to the Rescue - 09/26/11 01:23 PM
Summer decided to make another appearance here in Austin TX as we hit Triple Digits again this weekend. I had this brilliant idea to go to Lake Austin because why would many people be out on the water after Labor Day?? Wow! We were so totally and completely wrong! There were so many boats on the water, it was hard to do much of anything. I took one short set of wakeboarding on my new CWB Edge Wakeboard Bindings, Mike did one set on the Wakeskate, and the rest was playing around on the tube with friends, and showing them

lake austin: Lake Austin - Wakeboarding Pictures - 09/16/11 10:53 AM
Lake Austin is a constant level lake, so even though Austin TX is having a very bad drought right now, there is still water in the lake. We usually go to Lake Travis, but all the boat ramps on Lake Travis are closed because the water is low there. Lake Austin is really just a "river", but history calls it a lake. We finally had a cold front yesterday. It was only 96 degrees instead of 105, so we took a lunch break and headed out. I had not been on the boat since I was 7 months pregnant with

lake austin: Lake Travis - Austin TX - Two Year Drought is Over - 02/08/10 01:46 PM
Lake Travis Austin TX is currently ABOVE its average lake level!! Austin TX, along with Central Texas Hill Country as a whole, has been in a two year drought. Lake Travis sustained at the beginning, but the Summer of 2009 was hard. By early September, this is what Lake Travis looked like at my family's cove. Absolutely NO water, as levels were around 625 feet! It is just a few months later, and as of this past weekend, Lake Travis is now over 670 feet!! And the better news? It's raining today, and will rain most of the week!! This

lake austin: Mount Bonnell - Covert Park - Austin TX Parks - 10/03/09 02:37 PM
Mount Bonnell - Covert Park - Austin TX Parks - Known as the highest point in Austin at 785 feet, is not actually the highest point, but people continue to believe it as it's a legend. Mount Bonnell is named after George W Bonnell, who moved to Austin in the 1830's (some reports say 1836 while others say 1839) and was the publisher of the local paper The Texas Sentinel. Prior to being called Mount Bonnell, legend has it that is was once called Antoinette's Leap, because of some woman who leaped to her death running from Native Americans. And

lake austin: Lake Travis - Austin TX- View from Iguana Grill - 08/23/09 12:11 PM
Lake Travis -Austin TX - View from the Iguana Grill. On Thursday, I had a Mother's Night Out with some local moms in the Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Spicewood, TX areas. We went to the Iguana Grill on 620 in Lakeway. It was hot, but we sat on the patio anyway. They had misters with fans blowing on us, but it's the view you come for. With record breaking heat this summer and record draught over a 23 months period going on, there are amazing shots you can get today that you probably won't come near to seeing next year. Here

lake austin: Relaxing Weekend on Lake Austin - 08/16/09 01:15 PM
My parents came down to visit this weekend, and boy did we have a blast! My step father has never been here, so we gave him the five cent tour via boat. We saw a few houses... We saw the Austin Duck Adventures bus float by. This is pretty cool because it's a real bus and drives on real roads, but then it just goes down the ramp and into the water and floats like a boat. Both my mom and step father went in the tube for their very first times ever. Alyssa and I had

lake austin: Sailing - Lake Travis- Austin TX - 07/15/09 09:08 AM
Sailing on Lake Travis in Austin TX looks like a lot of fun. We were out on Lake Travis in our ski boat and so were a bunch of sailboats. It was almost like they were having their own little race going on as they were everywhere and kept encircling. Here are some of the shots I got. Alyssa especially liked the Blue one. The water is low on Lake Travis, but people are still out having fun and being careful! As of yesterday, "large" boats are no longer allowed to launch at the last

lake austin: How Was Your Weekend? - 07/06/09 04:44 PM
Each week, I've been giving a summary of how my weekends are going. It's mainly my way of showing off the light of my life, Alyssa. People seem to enjoy the updates, so I continue to post them. This weekend was a lot of fun. We went out on Lake Travis. Alyssa actually rode behind the boat in the tube. No, she was not alone... she rode with me. We want her to know at an early age that the water is not scary. We also spent some time with friends swimming in their pool. Alyssa almost made it

lake austin: Lake Austin - Austin TX - Lakefront Homes - 06/30/09 10:26 AM
Lake Austin - Austin TX - Lakefront Homes needed to be explored since last week, we ventured out to Lake Travis to show you some waterfront Homes. This past weekend, we went out to the other side of the Mansfield Dam to check out Lake Austin. Lake Austin is MUCH colder than Lake Travis because it's a constant-level lake that is fed through the Mansfield Dam from the bottom of Lake Travis. The water at the very bottom never sees the sun, so it stays cold and that cold water is what feeds Lake Austin. As you go further down

lake austin: How Was Your Weekend? - 06/30/09 09:56 AM
For the past couple of weeks, I've been posting a "How Was Your Weekend?" blog. People have seemed to enjoy seeing how my family and I spend time together, so here's another weekend. We went to the Bee Cave Galleria, also known as the Hill Country Galleria, where they have this area of shooting water. Great, FREE Entertainment! We went out on the boat to check out Lake Austin. The water is much colder than Lake Travis, but with it being 107 degrees, the water felt awesome!! These are half of my in-laws with Alyssa and her shades. This is

lake austin: My Husband Turned the BIG 4-0 at Lake Austin's Hula Hut! Life Downhill From Here? - 05/31/09 09:46 AM
Mike turned the big 40 yesterday. He doesn't look it, but he sometimes acts it... my back hurts, my knees hurt, my carpaltunnel hurts... Since the day we got married, I always said I would need to trade him in for a younger model if he kept it up. Some threats are just threats. My mother-in-law offered to watch Alyssa on Friday so we decided to do a rare thing, go out to eat. Since Mike knows all the "good" restaurants, I let him pick. He decided on the Hula Hut right off Lake Austin. I usually hate eating outside
