moving: Good-Bye House, Good-Bye - 04/24/09 08:19 AM
I walked around my house for the last time last night remembering all the reasons why we bought it. It's a great floorplan with great features throughout! Good-Bye Family Room... I love your plantation shutters and your slate surround fireplace. I love the view of the spiral staircase, and how open it is to the Kitchen. Good-Bye Kitchen... I'm going to miss your HUGE island with tons of storage. I don't have this much storage in my new house. I'm also going to REALLY miss your walk-in pantry. My new house has two pantries, but combined, they're still not the size

moving: My Temporary Office Chair - 04/23/09 08:51 PM
Below are some pictures of where I worked all week. I actually got TONS of stuff done! I love that chair! This is the chair I had to sit in when I was pregnant and too big to walk up the stairs muchless sit behind my desk. I would sit with the laptop table in my lap that my husband built. That ottoman is so compfy too! Sit back in the big, oversized chair and put my feet up while watching other people pack my house and do the manual labor and not have to lift too many fingers... this

moving: Taking Control Away from a Control Freak - 04/23/09 10:54 AM
Man, this is bad... I'm such a control freak, and for the past 3 days, I've been watching other people pack and move my belongings. It's so hard to watch them do all the work while I do very little. Don't get me wrong, I've done my fair share, and they keep telling me to go sit down, but those who really know me, you know I don't sit still well... It's so hard to take the control away from a control freak! But they're the professionals and I'm allowing them to pack things however they need to to ensure

moving: Threatening a Vacation or a Move Will Always Make you Busier! - 01/30/09 04:43 PM
As many of you know, I'm in the process of moving to Austin, TX. When? WHo knows, but that's a story for a different day as the house continues to be built. I'm been preparing this move for months, which means, I've organized my databases and passed off all my past and future buyers and sellers to my "partner" who is taking over the marketing of my database so no one slips through the cracks. With that, I was planning on being done with my Dallas business by December at the latest. You know how you're getting ready to go on

moving: Relocating- First Hand Experience Part 15 - 01/24/09 01:52 PM
Here are some of the latest pictures taken of our house. As you can see, the scaffolding has been put back up in the front to get ready to tear down the elevation and redo it. I can't wait for it to look correct! We also have the new delivery of the rest of the brick so they can finish the back of the house and also redo the front porch area. We also have our insulation throughout the house. We upgraded to insulate the entire garage since Mike uses it as a workshop year 'round too,

moving: Minimize Your Stresses when Moving - 02/28/07 03:35 PM
For most people, moving to a new residence is a stressful event. Here are some things you can do to minimize tension and worry when you sell your home:* Choose a real estate agent (REALTOR®) who communicates clearly and frequently, keeping you up to speed on every step of the process.* Price your home accurately for market conditions. Homes that sell quickly leave their sellers wondering if they set the price too low, while sellers whose homes sit on the market unsold wonder if they'll ever find a buyer.* Decide whether you want to move yourself or have professional movers handle

moving: Dallas Real Estate- Moving Day - 02/27/07 09:58 AM
Most buyers and sellers consider moving day a real hassle. Here are some things you can do to make it more manageable:* Cut back on your possessions as you pack. Make separate areas for items to be discarded, sold, or donated to charity.* Label all boxes and color-code them by room, whether you pack yourself or have help. Otherwise, you'll never remember what's in each box.* Have the outside door locks on your new home changed and the garage door opener reprogrammed.* Get referrals from your doctors, dentists, and veterinarians for new providers near your new home. Take your files with
