pregnant: BabyHarris Update 11/15/07- WATER BROKE! Currently at Hospital in Labor - 11/15/07 11:51 PM
No one thought I would actually do it, but here I am in labor at the hospital and I'm posting a blog!!!
My water broke at 7:20pm Central time, and it's currently 11:45pm.  I'm on a Pitocin drip to help increase the contractions for more consistency.
I'm SOOOO thirsty but no fluids allowed.  My doctor said it was ok, but the anesthesiologist person said no... I can eat popsicles though.
I'll post again after the baby gets here!!  YEAH!!

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 11/12/2007- Back at Hospital;Still No Baby - 11/12/07 01:04 PM
This has been a very frustrating weekend... still no baby.  After spending 9 hours at the hospital Saturday night into Sunday, we were back at the hospital Sunday night at 10:30pm...
Still no baby!  The on-call doctor was just so worried about when my doctor would be back in town and she seems "scared" to so anything.  I did go to my regular doctor this morning and told him all about the weekend.  He said that he believes that doctor is more used to working with HMOs and not PPOs and she was acting accordingly.  I was like, she should have asked … (7 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 11/11/07- Spent Night in Hospital - 11/11/07 09:42 AM
Yesterday, I started having some pretty good contractions.  About 9pm, I noticed they were about 6-7 minutes apart.  I called the on-call doctor since mine is out of town.  She told me to give it an hour.  I gave it 2 hours...
At midnight, we gathered all the stuff needed, and we headed to the hospital.  Contractions were coming 1-2 minutes apart and 4-5 minutes apart... but didn't dilate past 2cm, so they just sent me home.
Being sent home was good because I can actually eat something as I'm starving, but I don't like being sent home because the contractions are so … (9 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 11/6/2007- Week 38 - 11/06/07 04:02 PM
Well, I just got back from the doctor's...  I'm a couple of days early of 38 weeks, but my doctor is going to a wedding and will be gone from Thursday thru Sunday, so I had to have my appt today.
I'm having contractions, but they are not consistant.  They are either 20-25 minutes apart or they're more like 40-45 minutes apart.  We need to get those closer together!
I'm about 2cm dilated, but still not enough to strip the membranes to do much of anything.  It's another week of waiting, as I don't really want to go into labor with him gone … (11 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 11/2/2007- Week 37 - 11/02/07 10:53 AM
So frustrating, so frustrating!!!  At today's appointment, it looks like she is just "baked" enough.
I am retaining so much water, it's starting to concern my doctor, but still not signs up pre-eclampsia.  My hands are so red and I can barely type at times because my fingers are so swollen, I can barely bend them, especially in the mornings.  My knees are getting much worse and it's hurting to walk.  Blood is pooling behind my right knee which is causing more pain.
However, blood pressure is still fine, 118/60 so he sees no reason to actually induce as he still thinks it … (25 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 10/25/2007 Week 36 - 10/25/07 04:16 PM
Today was my 36 week appointment for BabyHarris (still no name, but we might be getting closer).  We're right around the corner now!!
My blood pressure is still low, at 98/56, even after all the stresses of this past week.  I'm very surprised!
My blood work came back from last week's appt and my white blood cell count is out of range, high, and so is something else.  The nurse said that white blood cells go up when the body is trying to fight off infection.  My doctor is not worried because he said that it's typical for someone at this stage of … (10 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 10/16/2007 - 10/16/07 01:11 PM
I had my 34 week appointment yesterday.  Everything is still going along very smoothly.  This appointment consisted of the final blood test and also a swab test for Strepp.
I was measuring at 35 weeks so a few days larger than I should be, but it's all an estimate unless the measurements are further off.  Yes, I gained MORE weight, but not gonna tell you what it is.  I figured that at this point, I'll just give a final number on the last day, but let's just say the number is MUCH higher than I ever expected!!!
My next appt is Oct 25 … (9 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update- Week 32 - 10/01/07 03:14 PM
I had another doctor's appointment this morning as I'm now at an every two weeks schedule.  This is week 32.  My blood pressure has increased a little, up to 100/60.  It's still normal, but higher than what I have been at.
I broke the scale, but that's ok because I'm sure they have another in the back... the number is getting very scary, but don't feel so bad when people keep telling me I look like "all baby", though I can definitely feel it all over!!
The heartrate has dropped, but I think it's because she decided to take a nap right before … (11 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 9/18/2007 - 09/18/07 12:22 PM
Here's another long awaited BabyHarris update!
I went to the doctor's today with an entire list of questions.  I love my doctor.  He spent over 30 minutes with me going over all my questions and even gave me another ultrasound to ease a couple of my concerns!  Most doctors are like in and out in under 5 minutes.
BabyHarris is currently 30 weeks and 5 days.  One of my concerns was the amniotic fluid because it measured low at my 21 week ultrasound, so he did a quick measurement today and I'm at 14 cm.  Amniotic fluid should be between 5-25 cm, and … (10 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 9/5/2007- Allergic to Baby - 09/05/07 09:17 AM
I just wanted to post a brief update since a few people have asked...
Yes, I passed the 3 hour diabetes glucose test.  This required about 16 hours of fasting, which is not good when you have a hungry baby!!  I got very pail and pasty and the people at the lab were concerned and wanted to give me water or food so bad.  I almost passed out... they gave me a patient room with a cot in it and told me to lay down.  So I got a little rest in between blood draws.  They did allow me a little teaser … (13 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 8/27/2007- Glucose Test too HIGH! - 08/27/07 01:38 PM
Well, today made for a huge scare for me.  Last week, I had to take the glucose test.  The glucose test, as the name states, tests the amount of sugar in your body.  If it's too high, they send you off for diabetes tests...
To get the call this morning to let me know my levels were 142, where 140 is the cut-off, was pretty scary.  He doesn't seem too worried since it's right above the limit, but he still has to let me know I have to have the additional tests.  The additional tests requires me to fast for 12 hours … (8 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 8/10/2007 - 08/10/07 02:56 PM
BabyHarris is doing well.  I get lots of emails from people asking for more updates, so I'll go ahead and post.
I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday.  My blood pressure is 98/42.  Yes, I said over 42!!  According to my doctor, as long as I'm walking, talking, breathing, and eating, that I'm ok... so I continue on.  I am currently 25w1d.  I have gained 19 pounds!!
I painted the room a couple of weeks ago, and I'm working on the bathroom.  I stripped the wallpaper, taped and bedded the walls, and sanded everything down, but when it came to covering everything so … (13 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 6/24/2007 - 06/24/07 06:15 PM
Here's the count down to finding out the sex of the baby!  17 days and counting.  I'm so excited.  I've had a mad rush from some people to get their guesses in so they count before the sex is found out.  If you're one of those people, don't forget to make your guess.  Also, if you're not guessing because it's still too soon to really guess a date, not a problem because those items can be edited by me whenever you want.
SO, I am 18 weeks, and the baby is supposed to be about 5.5 inches long.  It can hear me … (7 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update 6/11/2007 - 06/11/07 10:04 AM
I had my 16 week appointment this morning.  Everything is fine!!  All those dreams I've been having are meaningless now.  The heartrate was down to 154 from 160 at last month's appt.  More of my pants are getting tighter, so I'll probably be in maternity clothes full time in the next couple of weeks.
They took blood for the Quad Test today.  I have rolly vains, so they actually had to try both arms to get blood.  I bruise easily so I'm definitely going to look like a junkie in a couple of hours.
I will go back for a full Sonogram to … (8 comments)

pregnant: BabyHarris Update - 06/02/07 01:59 PM
You know how they say that when you're pregnant and you dream about the baby, that part of that is true.  Like if you dream of girls, you're probably going to have a girl?
Well, the last 2-3 days, I haven't really felt pregnant.  I haven't been very hungry, and I'm not getting those little pains in my side like I was, and now I miss...
Last night, I dreamt that I had a miscarriage.  Within the dream, I was running around everywhere to find a doppler to see if I could hear the heartbeat, and the heartbeat was present at the 140 range … (16 comments)
