I got a call yesterday evening from a gentleman saying he was given my name and information as a referral from one of my past clients. Yeah! We all love referrals and strive to receive them.
I spoke with this gentleman for about 10 minutes about what he was looking for and time frame and price range and everything of the sorts.
Then, the word RE/MAX comes out of my mouth, because, yes, I'm a RE/MAX agent.
"I'm Sorry, but I won't work with a RE/MAX agent."
What does me being a RE/MAX agent prevent you from working with me?

RE/MAX was ranked the #1 Real Estate Franchise according to Entrepreneur and their 30th Anniversay Franchise 300 survey. The results will be in January 2009 issue.
Among all Franchises in the country, RE/MAX ranked #44 with Subway and MacDonald's as #1 and #2 respectively.
With RE/MAX ranked #1 in Real Estate, the closest competitor is Keller Williams with a ranking of #71. I wouldn't really call that a "competition" though with the distance being so far off.

Well, I gave in last night, and joined the ever looming, Facebook. Are you on Facebook?
Thus far, it's a tad frustrating as every time I want to make a change to my profile, previous information disappears or changes. For example, it didn't like my Re/Max office name. It kept trying to put me in the Lubbock office. Huh? Also, instead of Re/Max, it had me working at my first brokerage, Ebby Halliday. I had to change this 6 times for it to stick.

I received my October 2008 copy of Tierra Grande this afternoon. I love reading it because it's specific to Texas real estate instead of trying to interpret national information.
There were several new studies presented at the American Real Estate Society meeting in April 2008. One of the studies was about agent compensation verse their performance.
"The larger the brokerage firm, the more likely the agent is to be on full commission." I'm not sure if this is interpreted to mean "full commission" as no income coming from any other entities like property management or another job, or if "full … (9 comments)

Have you created your SearchMe.com stack yet? It was pretty easy with just typing in my name and going through a lot of websites. The hard part was that Donna Harris is a very common name and I'm all over the place. I tried using some words like Re/Max and Realtor and the names of a couple of publications I've been in, but it was not that easy finding those articles.

remax: Plano Balloon Festival Sponsored by RE/MAX- with pictures - 09/22/08 09:03 AM
Instead of just talking about, this year we decided to actually go to the Balloon Festival. It was a lot of fun. It was Alyssa's first Festival and she "people watched" like crazy. It was a beautiful day, not much of a breeze. We saw the Re/Max Parachuters jump, and that was really cool. They all landed right where they were supposed to. Lots of practice.
We didn't stay for the fireworks, but I went outside at 9pm and could see them from the front yard. That was the better idea so we didn't have to fight traffic afterwards.

remax: ActiveRain Membership Surpasses the Number of RE/MAX Associates - 09/08/08 09:31 PM
A few days ago, a HUGE milestone was hit. ActiveRain's membership actually surpassed the total number of agents that are associated with RE/MAX.
RE/MAX has 107,093 membersin 6995 offices in more than 65 countries (I just happened to be on their main site this evening looking at stuff pertaining to my move). I'm not sure how many countries ActiveRain is in, but I think it's still just the U.S. and Canada, and we're sitting pretty at 107,975 members.
I love that I have associated myself with two top dogs in this industry.
