I'll be teaching a TREC approved MCE class on February 10 from 9am-11am at Republic Title in Richardson.
Learn the basics of how to create an Internet Presence in order to help capture more buyers and sellers who are doing their research online. Learn how to convert those Cyberleads into a clo$ed $ale putting more money into your pockets!
If you can't make February 10, there will also be a class on February 17 from 1pm-3pm.

With the inclement weather we had last week, the annual HOA meeting for the Woods of SpringCreek community in Richardson, TX was canceled. The meeting has been rescheduled for February 12, 2009 at 7-8:30pm.
If you cannot come, you must resign a proxy as the previous proxies are now out of date. Let me know if you need a proxy form, or you can get one from your block captain.

After months of talking about this relocation to Austin, TX, we finally put our house on the market. What an ordeal!! I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more. Whenever I was finished with one room, "someone" would make a mess again and it would have to be cleaned again.
I took 180 pictures yesterday in order to get enough pictures for the virtual tour and still photos for the MLS. Then, my listing agent also came over and took some pictures. I'm not sure how many he took.

Business Week magazine just recently released their results for the "Best Place to Raise Your Kids" and Richardson, Texas was ranked second! Only cities with a population of at least 50,000 people and median incomes of $40,000-$100,000 were ranked.
The main, key factors taken into account were school performance, affordability, and safety. Some of the secondary factors were cost of living, air quality, local parks, recreation centers, racial diversity, and theaters among others.

Do you ever not do something because you're afraid of embarrassing yourself, even in front of people you don't know?
I usually go swimming two to three times a week at the Oak Point Center in Plano, TX. They have a very nice indoor pool. Membership for Plano residents is ONLY $65 a year!! I fall into that category living in Richardson because my neighborhood feeds into Plano schools. Outside residents are only about $125 a year or something like that, so it still beats the heck out of a gym membership.

This Year's TEXAS' National Night Out is being held tomorrow, October 7, 2008. Yes, the rest of the country already held their National Night Out, however, Texas is always different. Because of the HOT HOT weather in Texas, they finally allowed us to postpone our National Night Out to a cooler month so more people would attend.
Richardson, TX won again last year for population 30-100k. Let's see if we'll win this year. My neighborhood, The Woods of SpringCreek, have many activities planned again, but different than last year.

Back in May, I got my mom an awesome Mother's Day present... I bought her tickets for Menopause the Musical. We saw the show on Saturday. I bought the tickets so far in advance, then we ran the risk of the show being canceled because of the weather, but we didn't get too much of Ike, so the city ran as usual.
I really didn't know what to expect, though I heard it was really really funny. And yes, it was really really funny, but more than that, it was really really embarrassing to see with my mother! Maybe if … (4 comments)

richardson tx: Richardson TX's Huffines Recreation Center to House Gustav Evacuees - 09/01/08 04:32 PM
Many of the Gulf Coast evacuees started driving towards higher ground in their own cars. For those people, Richardson has open their Huffine's Recreation Center for these people. They are already full to capacity at 95 people.
Until further notice, the rec center will be closed to the public while they allow the evacuees to stay there. The city is also teaming up with the nearby Junior High school to allow the evacuees to use their facilities for showers and such, but only before and after school hours.

The Richardson Public Library is hosting an "Ask a Lawyer" day on September 13 in the basement. The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program in conjuction with the Dallas Area Young Lawyers Ask-a-Lawyer Committee will be providing answers to all your legal questions from 2-4pm.
There will be Attorneys with all kinds of backgrounds like criminal, family law, estate planning, bankruptcy, and more. If further assistance is needed beyond the scope of this free clinic, a list of free and low-cost legal resources will be provided.

The biannual Cottonwood Art Festival is coming up on October 4-5 from 9am- 6pm. As always, this is a FREE event. We like FREE! This year, there will be 240 artists and craftsmen featured. There will also be some music and entertainment.
It's fun for the entire family! Many people even bring their dogs, but please only bring yours if it's VERY friendly as there will be lots of dogs and we don't need any attacking each other. Leashes are a must.

richardson tx: Nominate Your Neighbors for Revitalization Award - 09/01/08 03:21 PM
Every year, since 1994, Richardson TX and the Richardson City Council hand out awards for residential and commercial properties that have revitalized the city. Revitalizing consists of enhancing the community by making some significant changes and improvements to a property.
The nomination deadline for 2008 is September 19. You can contact the Development Services department at 972-744-4255 or Susan Smith at susan.smith@cor.gov.
Since the start of the awards in 1994, there have been 143 recipients of the awards. Keep Richardson looking nice by keeping your properties looking nice.

richardson tx: Does Your Area Have "Good Neighbor" Fences? - 07/30/08 10:39 AM
Since we've been contemplating the move to Austin, it's given me an opportunity to see how other parts of the state, possibly even the country, do things. One of those things is the Fence around a property. This might not seem like a big deal, but in all actuality it is a fairly big deal as it's an aesthic thing...
Look at this picture. What do you see? I see a confused fence that doesn't quite know which way it was supposed to be put up. Are the "climbing bars" supposed to be facing in the backyard, or facing the other way? … (26 comments)

richardson tx: Dallas Metroplex has 10 Cities in Top 100 Best Places - 07/22/08 09:50 AM
Many suburbs of Dallas, TX made CNN Money's top 100 places to live list for 2008. What I find interesting is that 10 cities in the Dallas area made the list, but only 1 city from the Austin area made the list, Round Rock. Of those 10 cities, I have to admit, I'm shocked by a couple of the cities that made it, but as to not offend anyone, I will not mention which ones are unbelievable.
This is interesting because Austin is constantly and consistently on the list of one of the best places to live. They're supposed to have a great housing … (6 comments)

My community, Woods of SpringCreek in Richardson, TX finally received the turnabout they've been talking about for years. Telecom was a dead-end street, but it was never finished off because the plans were to make it a through street.
With enough support from the homeowners, we convinced the City of Richardson to not allow it to be a through street and to keep the traffic away from our small, quiet community. They then agreed to connect two different streets in order to make traffic flow from Plano into Richardson, Los Rios and North Star.

Last June, I blogged about Richardson TX becoming the new Cancer Hub for the area. Well, it's a year later, and they're almost done with the buildings. Each time I went in for my pregnancy follow ups last year, I would watch out the window as they were working. At that time, it seemed like they were moving so slow, but they were just putting in the infrastructure like the new parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks.

Brand New Gated Community just starting building it's first spec home, Cantera. Cantera is in North East Richardson TX where I refer to it as the "Red-Headed Step Child of Richardson." I call this area that because it's the city of Richardson, but it's Collin County and Plano Schools, so we sometimes get overlooked (I live about a mile from this new community).
There are 49 homesites, and the lots themselves are selling for what my house costs! The finished products will range from $700,000 to upwards of $3M!! They have already sold 10 lots so they're well on their way.

richardson tx: Richardson TX Corporate Challenge 2008 - 07/15/08 12:43 PM
Richardson, TX's Corportate Challenge is almost upon us. The deadline for the registration fee is July 31 at 5pm. The Corporate Challenge is set up like the Olympics where you have different events on different days. The Opening Ceremony will be on August 22 with events starting on August 23. The Closing Ceremony (Party) will be on October 22. Yes, this is a 2 month long challenge. Is your company signed up?

richardson tx: FREE VIN Etching Organized by City of Richardson - 07/15/08 10:24 AM
The City of Richardson is having a VIN Etching event on Thursday, September 18. It will be held in the Cisco Systems parking lot (near Renner and Jupiter) from 9am until 2pm. Did I mention this is FREE!! The only thing the city is asking for is for each person to bring 2 canned goods.
The City of Richardson breaks records each and every year for their different canned food drives, and this will be no exception to add to those records. Most dealerships would charged hundreds of dollars to etch your VIN in each and every window, but FREE is a great price. … (2 comments)
