texas association of realtors: Mediator for the Texas Association of Realtors - 09/09/14 06:55 AM
June of 2014 was a big change to our Texas residential real estate contracts. Mediation used to be an option that buyers and sellers could choose, but now it's mandatory. It used to be that if a suit went to court, the judge then had the option of hearing it or sending it to Mediation. Now, all cases must try Mediation first before seeing the inside of a court room. It's an Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Mediation is still "Voluntary" and can be stopped at any point in the process, but with the mandatory clause in the contract, it must be tried … (8 comments)

texas association of realtors: Texas Association of Realtors Implements Citations - 08/26/11 07:15 AM
The Texas Association of REALTORS®, known as TAR, as adopted a Citation policy when dealing with the Code of Ethics. TAR Leadership team appointed a Citation Task Force Committee to evaluate the California Association's Citation program that was previously approved by NAR.  I'm part of the TAR Professional Standards Committee, and I've already been on a Grievance panel for a few of these complaints.

Starting January 1, 2011, TAR put the citation policy into effect. What's good about this Citation Policy? It makes the process move along faster. If found "guilty", there is no Professional Standards Committee hearing as a … (8 comments)

texas association of realtors: Texas Real Estate Licensing Requirements are Changing - 06/23/11 09:03 AM
Texas Real Estate Licensing is having some rule changes. A couple of changes seem to be for the better, but a couple seem to not be... The first one that I would totally and completely agree with is that you must be a Salesperson with FOUR years ACTIVE experience in order to apply and receive a Broker's license.  This is changed from two years and I believe the word "active" is new.  I like this because too many people straight out of real estate school and barely any experience were immediately trying for their broker's license without any "real world" knowledge … (6 comments)

texas association of realtors: TEXAS REALTORS®, Brokers, and Licensees- License Renewal Changes Add for FEES! - 06/05/09 08:58 AM
This is going to effect all REALTORS®, Brokers, and Real estate Licensees in the state of Texas.
You know how we jumped through those hoops last year to get the fingerprinting done in time for our license renewals??  If that wasn't enough, now, for the next renewal, TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) is going to charge an extra $19.25 for a new background check on each and every person!!
What did I tell ya, nickel and dime here, nickel and dime there...
They will make you inactive if you don't comply, so just bend over and send the money!

texas association of realtors: Personalize Plates Getting you in Trouble? - 06/04/08 08:13 AM
I have personalized plates on my 4Runner.  They are the Texas Association of Realtors plates, and they're also customized as BUYIN.  If I wasn't a Realtor, I probably wouldn't recognize the plates as the writing is fairly small and hard to read as you're driving around and keeping a great enough distance between cars.
I was driving a couple of days ago along 75 Central Expressway going north, and in the right lane because I was heading to the East Bound exit for the George Bush Turnpike... and right before the exit, who pulls in front of me?  Yes, it was a … (13 comments)

texas association of realtors: Texas to Get New License Plates- Vote Here - 02/06/08 12:30 AM
Every few years, Texas gets a new license plate.  Some look nice, and others are like, "Who designed this, and who approved it?"  Well, this time around, everyone in Texas gets to vote.  Here are your choices:

In my opinion, there is a clear winning with the above choices.  First, you'll notice that Texas is going to a 7 digit plate from the traditional 6 digit plate.  Second, you'll notice that option #5 is the same plate that we currently have, but showing us what it would look like with 7 digits in case people vote to keep what we have.  It would … (8 comments)

texas association of realtors: Texas- New REALTOR Association Plates - 02/12/07 06:49 AM
They finally arrived!!  Check out my new Texas Association of REALTORS® license plates.  They look "fake" as they're so different.  I'm going to definitely have to watch the way I drive now.... not that I'm a bad drive, because I'm a great driver, but I'm the type of driver that has somewhere to go, and I like to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible!
Thank you everyone who helped with the choice of "BUYIN".
What do you think?

This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country.  Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different.  Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between.  Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!!  Come back often!
