This program has been in place since the 90's and has run its course. There are too many other things that are working better and more effectively for water conservation as technology has changed over so many years. Yesterday, Congressman Ron Paul introduced legislation to extend the First Time Homebuyer tax credit. He makes a couple of good points, but the point that I think is ridiculous and makes no sense is, "Renewing the first-time home buyer's credit will help Americans purchase a first home with their own money, instead of having to rely on government-funded or backed programs." You might want to read it again. It says it will help people buy with their own money. How does that happen when the tax "credit" is a credit given after a buyer buys the house? Austin TX makes the number five spot for "100 Best Places to Retire" for 2010 according to TopRetirements.com.
This list has only been published since 2007, so it's definitely not a list that is set in its ways for years and years. However, the top four spots have been unchanged with Asheville NC, Sarasota, FL, Prescott, AZ, and Paris, TN. Austin TX moved up to the number 5 spot from last year's number 9 spot. Zilker Park Kite Festival in Austin TX was a huge event this weekend. This was my first time to attend, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I did not know that we were to bring our own kite and fly it with the others. I thought there were a set number of people who were registered for contests who would be flying their kites...There were hundreds of kites flying around Zilker Park, it was amazing. SXSW® - South By SouthWest is coming back to Austin TX March 12-21, 2010. What is SXSW®? It's "the premier destination for discovery". Oh, what does that mean? It's basically a ten day event for conferences and festivals with live music and independent files and new technologies and trade shows. I can't believe it. I've never seen this much snow in my life!! The flakes were bigger than silver dollars!!
Here are some pictures of fun in the snow with Alyssa and Mike. We ended up with three snowmen and people keep stopping to take pictures. I feel famous! I'll post a video later.

It's good to occasionally play a little hookie and have some Friday Fun! This morning, we ventured out to a playdate at 3F Fitness in Lakeway TX. We had a lot of fun. There's something for all ages, from barely crawling to adults.Here's a little video of Alyssa playing on some of the equipment, and after being hesitant with the trampoline last time, she loved jumping on it this time!

Esurance.com is such a SCAM and I wasted so much time with them I can't believe it, as they baited and switched my quotes! Here's what happened, long story. I've been with Allstate since I was 16 years old. You can do the math if you want. The last time I had to research insurance was when I became a Realtor and had to get "Business" coverage, which not all companies offer. I set my plan, and on I went. Alyssa completed her first week at her new school, Primrose School of Bee Cave. I'm not very excited that her other school closed and that I had to scramble to find a new one in under a week. I'm not thrilled with the lack of choices in the Bee Cave TX area for child care. In the immediate area, there are two daycares plus three Montessori schools. One daycare is for ages 2 1/2 and up, so that was eliminated easily. Plus, when I was in there last year to check them out, there was one teacher for about 30 kids … (12 comments)

I have sympathy and empathy for the people who have been laid off over the past few months and years, but you never really know how bad it is until it affects you personally. The Kent Cummins Magic Camp at the Hill Country Galleria Barnes & Noble is fun for everyone! Yesterday, I took Alyssa to Barnes & Noble for their Magic Camp Circus. It was supposed to be from 2-4pm, but someone got their information wrong, and when we got there at almost 3pm, it was already over... Kent Cummins, the owner of Magic Camp, was right there and I asked him if he was planning another act. He was a little confused until his helpers did confirm that the flier I saw did say 2-4pm. The City of Lakeway TX had their annual Halloween Goblin Glow last night at the Lakeway City Park on Hurst Creek.
This was our first time to go, so I didn't know what to expect. There were five hot air balloons and every so often, they would light their fire and make the balloons glow. You could go right up to the baskets of the balloons and trick-or-treat. They gave out lots of candy. There was also face painting, hair spraying with colors, people on stilts, and a balloon artist. Austin TX Wildlife in and around new home communities is always interesting to see.
Here is my newest find on our back steps. There are two, but I couldn't get the other one in a good pose. As you can see, compared to the penny, these are tiny little guys. So cute. Alyssa and I were poking them with blades of grass to make them hop. Each time, Alyssa would say, "Ribbit ribbit." Here are some of the other Austin TX Wildlife creatures I've found in and around my home.

Today is Blog Action Day. This is the day every blogger across the world is supposed to write on the same topic. This year's topic is Climate Control.
How is the climate effecting us or me personally? This was the hottest summer ever recorded in Austin TX's history. Including the overnight hours, where it's supposed to be cooler weather, our temperatures averaged over 89 degrees.
We had 68 days over 100 degrees and most of those were at 106 and 107 degrees. We were 1 day short of the record for 69 days over 100 degrees that was set way back … (7 comments)
