Hastings-On-Hudson Powered by Historic River Energy
The historic Hudson River flows through Westchester County and with it, an inexplicable energy that feeds River Towns born along its edges.
Hastings-On-Hudson is among the River Towns that have taken that energy and shaped it into thriving communities. The majesty of the river and the aesthetic power drawn along the Hudson's wooded banks helped create life here once. Now the river sustains it.
Just north of Yonkers and south of Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-On-Hudson NY is one of the original River Towns and a favorite of artists of all kinds through generations (perhaps because of … (0 comments)

Dobbs Ferry Farmers Market a Sure Sign of Spring - 03/30/11 04:51 PM
Dobbs Ferry Farmers Market a Sure Sign of Spring
Just step outside and breathe that air! Signs of spring are everywhere and one of our favorite signs is the return of the Dobbs Ferry NY Farmers Market!
Dobbs Ferry is among the historic Hudson River Towns nestled along the east bank. It's just north of Hastings-On-Hudson and just south of Irvington. Don't get us wrong ... winters here are absolutely stunning. But we miss the Farmers Market when our world is covered with snow and ice. Fridays are about to come to life.
The Dobbs Ferry Farmers Market begins March 18 … (0 comments)

Westchester County Park Receives Grant - 03/23/11 09:54 PM
Westchester County Park Receives Grant
Just in time to celebrate Spring - the Westchester County NY Parks department has found a friend in Con Edison.  With some 18,000 acres of county parkland to maintain, County Parks Commissioner, Kathleen O'Conner was very appreciative of the $15,000 grant from Con Edison.  The grant was provided by the company's on-going green initiatives.
The announcement came on Friday March 11, 2011 from Sandra Miller, Director of Public Affairs for Con Edison.  "Con Edison has a long-established tradition of contributing to and maintaining the social, cultural, and economic vitality of our service areas.  To do this, … (1 comments)

Westchester, NY Residential Market Summary - 2010 Review - 03/22/11 03:07 PM
<!---->  Westchester NY Residential Market Summary - 2010 Review
The News... 2010 was a welcome relief from the dismal real estate market of 2009.
Overall sales volume was up from last year's poor results. This was due, in part, to federal tax incentives initiated in 2009, as well as pent up demand for housing. Many buyers who wanted or needed housing bought a home in 2010. On average, sales prices have remained fairly steady with prices still hovering around the pre-boom years. Mortgage rates continue to remain at historic lows. Although these rates bounced around during 2010, market experts agree … (3 comments)

Scarsdale Real Estate - 03/21/11 02:56 PM
Real Estate  - REAL Buyers for REAL Sellers
Though the economy has hit the real estate industry the hardest by far, real estate seems to have taken a step forward in the last quarter of 2010.  Granted, the step may have been a baby-step, but any forward momentum should be met with optimism.
In fact, the year 2010 was a year that the real estate industry as a whole would like to forget, unfortunately, Scarsdale was not impervious to this slump.   2010 was all about change for the residential market.  New buyer and seller expectations in terms of pricing, foreclosures, short … (2 comments)

Mamaroneck, NY Rich In History - 03/17/11 06:39 PM

Mamaroneck, NY - Rich in History
Though a relatively small town in New York, the Village of Mamaroneck is rich in history.  The town itself was purchased from Native American Chief Wappaquewam and his brother, Manhattan (sound familiar?) by an Englishman named John Richbell in 1661, slightly more than 100 years before the American Revolution.
Many Mamaroneck homes reflect the early beginnings of this now thriving metropolis.
Mamaroneck was actually created as a New York town on March 7, 1788.  At that time the town was divided into three areas.  First was the Village of Larchmont.  … (1 comments)
