According to the Trends in Housing, a joint publication of MRIS and Delta Associates the Washington area housing market is in the recovery cycle, ahead of the rest of the nation: • Prices continue to show signs of recovery: 2nd quarter prices in the metro are up from the 1st quarter and from the same quarter in 2009, with the Outer jurisdictions (Loudoun, Prince William and Frederick Counties) outperforming the Core and Inner jurisdictions. real estate news: Grantor's Tax Increase Repealed - Northern Virginia - Samson Realty - 03/04/08 01:42 PM
Hi everyone, For those of you who have not heard about this, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled last Friday morning that the regional authority created by the General Assembly to levy taxes last year for Northern Virginia transportation projects is unconstitutional. In a unanimous opinion, the court said legislators improperly delegated authority to the unelected members of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) to impose seven taxes and fees, including a 500% increase in the grantor's tax, for funding transportation projects.
