Nevada, Are YOU on a quest to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Get Recognized?
This post is a result of two posts by my friend Richard Weisser down in Georgia. The first post was "How do you expect to get drenched in the rain if you don't even want to get your feet wet?" dated 5/21/09 in which he offers 6 suggestions to those of us here in Active Rain. In addition he also offers his personal guarantee "So, for those of you that want to succeed at blogging, I offer you this challenge. Before you throw in the towel, write at least one hundred quality posts before you make your value assessment. It takes that long to develop the correct skills and disciplines and also to create a body of content large enough to have a significant SEO impact on your business. Now that is some guarantee wouldn't you say? Richard then follows that post with another post titled "Achieving national celebrity status as a result of ActiveRain blogging becomes a reality! (of sorts)" where he talks about a recent interview with Realtor Magazine on line where he was interviewed about blogging for business. So, IMHO, Richard is not only a celeb but one that knows where of he speaks.
With the numerous posts talking to newbie's here in Active Rain on how to be a success in their blogging venture to improve their visibility to the public I am setting out on a quest. I am not going to suggest things to newbie's or those that are less active on AR; I am on a search for some of these folks for introduction to our AR family. Here is my 3 step plan:
Go on a state by state search and post between 5 and 7 people each Saturday
Then you the MEMBERSHIP will be able to see and encourage them by responding to their most recent post
A NEW qualification, the post must be done since January of this year.
The end result will be, hopefully, an increase in activity with more members becoming visible. Now there is a really BIG problem with this plan. I will not be able, my rule, to suggest those that have not done a post and posted their picture to their profile. You see there won't be any secret agents, lenders, stagers, inspectors, etc. shown. Sorry, if you want to be considered I need to see who you are, sorta like your picture on your business card.
Today I am looking at the state of Nevada, where Active Rain has a total of 973 AR members as of this morning. I would say that John Novak #1 and Renee Burrows #2 could have some competition coming up behind them. So, say hello to:
Be looking for your state coming soon to a post near you. Next I will be off to New York; if you know of someone celebrating a birthday in New York next week just email their name to me and I will acknowledge one person.
Please stop by and encourage these guys and gals and let's see if we can improve some of the participation. Thanks for stopping in.
If you are looking for a very simple way to move up in your standings for the state that you live in, here are two small suggestions:
Make one comment on someone's blog post.....Just pick one of the Featured Posts and read it then comment on what you read and
Complete your profile and then if you are looking for other suggestions,
Thanks to Active Brad Andersohn and Jeremy Blanton for their contributions. BTW, don't let these guys scare you they are really docile.

Okay - Ya'll know that I have been randomly posting Quick Tips that you can use around the house that are "GREEN". Well, on one of my previous posts I had a comment from a reader that suggested ketchup and some of it's useful properties......don't worry that post is coming! (BTW, Thanks Alicia).
As I was reading up on some of the uses of ketchup I ran across 10 Surprising Uses for Vodka- god help me, I can only imagine the comments coming up on this one! While I personally like MY vodka with Tonic (not the band) and double lime here are some interesting alternative uses for vodka:
Treat Poison Ivy - Pour vodka on the exposed area immediately and it will wash away the dreaded itchy that usually soon to follow
Kill Odor Causing Bacteria - If you are in a smoke filled bar don't get too upset if someone spills a vodka drink on you. Apparently if you spritz vodka on clothes and let them hang dry they won't retain nasty odors and will smell fresh.
Shine Chrome, Glass and Porcelain - Moisten a cloth with vodka and "polish" away!
Keep Flowers Fresh Longer - add a few drops of vodka and a teaspoon of vodka to the water in your flower vase - flowers will stay fresh longer!
Insect Repellent - This one kind of cracks me up (like the others haven't). Put some vodka in a pray bottle and spray the bugs or yourself. You might repel more than bugs but your clothes will smell fresh (see #3)
Disinfect and Alleviate Jellyfish Stings - Again, have vodka in a spray bottle and spray on affected areas.
Shinier, Healthier Hair - Add a jigger of vodka to a 12 oz. bottle of shampoo
Get Rid of Mold - Still have that handy spray bottle full of vodka? You still with me? Spray on mold and let sit for 15 mins - scrub away.
Natural Aches and Pains Remedy - DUH! But the official recipe is:
Fill a clean glass jar with fresh lavender flower then top off with vodka. Seal the lid tightly and place in the sun for three days. (Same as making Sun Tea) Strain the resulting liquid through a coffee filter and poof! You have a homemade tincture to rub into aches and pains. You can pour into smaller bottles, decorate and give them away as unique gifts. (Taken from The Daily Green)
Relieve a Toothache - Swoos Vodka around the affected tooth and it should help to numb it.
Have at it my fellow comedians - the floor is yours! Me? I am off to the Liquor store so I can ALWAYS keep a spray bottle full of vodka around the house and in my beach bag!

This subject might not appeal to many real estate practitioners because none of us like regulations. However, with the barrage of misleading information out there, I wonder if our lawmakers are paying attention. After all, it was only in the recent past that we almost experience financial collapse. Were there co-conspirators from the real estate industry? Will we be on the radar screen in the foreseeable future?
As a consequence of the aforementioned crisis, the current administration is taking measures to reform the way business is done in the financial industry. Yes, they are re-writing the rules of the game. Considering the fact that we are intricately related to the financial industry, why would they not look at us? One only has to take a look at the latest foreclosure statistics to see that there are some serious problems that need to be addressed.
Besides that however, there are some very reputable Realtors who are addressing problems that exist in the real estate industry. Below, I have cited two very prolific bloggers, Lenn Harley of Rockville, Maryland and Ruthmarie Hicks from White Plains, New York. I have provided an excerpt from their blogs.
Lenn Harley, Real Estate Broker, Rockville, MD in her blog entitled, "LOOKING AT REAL ESTATE TEAMS AND TEAM SPECIALISTS," addressed the following questions: DO REAL ESTATE "TEAMS" EXHIBIT EXPERTISE. The concept of "teams" in real estate practices is popular and often compared to medical "groups". I see little to no resemblance and, in fact, assigning a title of specialty such as "Buyers Agent" to a member of a team is often misleading to the consumer."
Ruthmarie Hicks, Associate Broker, White Plains, NY in her blog entitled "This Brokerage Has 750 Listings.....So they must be the best! (Part 1)"
Here are some of the issues she brought up, "Does size really matter? Does the number of listings or the size of the brokerage have anything to do with the ability of the agent to market and sell a home successfully? Is it the brokerage or the agent that is the determining factor? What Does the Brokerage Bring to the Table?"
What is your opinion?

New Mexico, Are YOU on a quest to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
Today I am looking at the state of New Mexico, where Active Rain has a total of 632 AR members as of this morning. I would say that Ashley Drake Gephart #1 and Laura Warden #2 could have some competition coming up behind them. So, say hello to:
Lou Frey with Santa Fe Land and Homes in Santa Fe, NM.
Debra Bowen with Coldwell Banker Legacy in Albuquerque, NM.
Neil Egan with The Santa Fe Agency in Santa Fe, NM.
Wes Moore with Superior Mortgage Services, LLC. In Albuquerque, NM.
Coletta Ray with Exit Clovis Realty in Clovis, NM.
Suzy St. Clair with St. Clair Properties in Santa Fe, NM.
Be looking for your state coming soon to a post near you. Next I will be off to Nevada; if you know of someone celebrating a birthday in Nevada next week just email their name to me and I will acknowledge one person.
Please stop by and encourage these guys and gals and let's see if we can improve some of the participation. Thanks for stopping in.

Then you the MEMBERSHIP will be able to see and encourage them by responding to their most recent post and
The post must be done since January of this year.
Today I am looking at the state of New Jersey, where Active Rain has a total of 5185 AR members as of this morning. I would say that Jeff Belonger #1 and Hugh Krone #2 could have some competition coming up behind them. So, say hello to:
Nancy Schumacher with RE/MAX Power Central in Medford Township, NJ.
Doug Bryson with Lois DeCaro Realtors, LLC. In Morristown, NJ.
Alan Seeland with RE/MAX at Barnegat Bay in Toms River, NJ.
Adrienne Thompson with Alloway Associates in Southampton Township, NJ.
Beth Gonyea with Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors in Moorestown, NJ.
Peter Liaskos with Realty International in Fort Lee, NJ.
Be looking for your state coming soon to a post near you. Next I will be off to New Mexico; if you know of someone celebrating a birthday in New Mexico next week just email their name to me and I will acknowledge one person.
