florida: It's All In How You Look At It - 03/26/09 04:44 PM
I heard Mike Huckabee speaking the other morning and he said something so incredibly simplistic in nature, it was practically over my head. He said that for all the economic, religious, political, and racial chaos in the world right now, it's easy to get swept up in what you lost; money, beliefs, power, but if you could take one minute when you get up in the morning or before you go to sleep at night to be grateful for what you have you will begin to see a change in the way you look at life. List 5 things for which

florida: Blind Faith - 03/25/09 12:00 PM
The day after President Obama's news conference and everyone is talking about what's right or what's wrong with what he said. You see it on every news channel, hear it on every talk radio station, and read about it in every newspaper. Today, however, I don't want to take issue with what the president said but the people who are talking about what he said. I understand and am actually proud of the passion with which people are following politics. It bothers me though, that for those of us that might agree with some of President Obama's comments but question others are chastised

florida: What's So Great About Living In Florida? - 03/23/09 05:00 PM
The Scenery We recently purchased our Central Florida home that sits on 5 acres. The most wonderful thing about living here in Florida is the wildlife. We have several families of wildlife that either live on our property or are frequent visitors. These are just two. This is the Sandhill Crane family that lives in our backyard This is the armadillo that also lives in our yard and loves to taunt our dogs Don't you just love Spring! Your

florida: Why Parents Drink - 03/20/09 07:20 AM
The boss wondered why one of his most valued employees was absent but had not phoned in sick one day. Needing to have an urgent problem with one of the main computers resolved, he dialed the employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's whisper. ' Hello ? ' 'Is your daddy home?' he asked. ' Yes ,' whispered the small voice. May I talk with him?' The child whispered, ' No .' Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, 'Is your Mummy there?' ' Yes ' 'May I talk with her?' Again the small

florida: Another Florida Wow Factor - 03/16/09 10:40 AM
We here in Florida are not only blessed with this beautiful weather, it's in the 80's again today, entertainment, world class higher education and our ever growing medical industry, but science and technology surround us regardless of where you live. A perfect example of this was the space shuttle launch last night. It was definitely something to behold even if you're not a space enthusiast. Here is a picture my daughter took last night from our front yard. Keep in mind we're about an hour away from NASA. If you look closely on the left of the picture just above the

florida: Do Overs ~ New Kid on the Block - 03/10/09 12:08 PM
Good afternoon Active Rain! I just wanted to introduce myself... My name is Donna and I'm fairly new to the AR blogging world. I've been reading all of your blogs for quite some time and even responded to a number of them, but hadn't actually made the leap from the dark side into the AR light. Active Rain seems like such a great place to exchange ideas and tips and even vent from time to time and everyone on AR is so warm and welcoming to newbies, I don't know why I was so hesitant. I guess making that leap seemed a little overwhelming, with
