To kick start your Monday, I thought I'd share some funnies compiled by Susan Capps: * When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane and going the wrong way.* I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe.* You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.* For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism.* Borrow money from a pessimist - they don't expect it back. A Hippity Hoppity Good Time ~ Canyon Creek, Austin, TX ~ Easter Egg Hunt - 03/29/10 01:48 PM
Our annual Canyon Creek Easter Egg Hunt was held this past Saturday, March 27th , in Trailhead Park from 10-11am. Throngs of neighborhood children with their parents and grandparents came out for a grand time on a beautiful, cloudless, cool day here in Canyon Creek. After gathering eggs by age groups most of the kids stood in line for a picture with the Easter Bunny, (our granddaughter Hailey). She was accompanied by 2 helpers, her little sister Maggie and Maggie's best friend Sophia.
A huge vote of gratitude goes out to Terryl Booth, a mom in our neighborhood who coordinated the volunteers (2 comments)
Don't Be Duped When Traveling... - 03/26/10 03:51 PM
You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. When checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for all the charges for your room). You get to your room to settle in.Your phone rings in your room. You answer and the person on the other end says the following, "This is the front desk. When checking in, we came across a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last digits on the reverse side of your charge card." Not thinking anything is unusual you might give this (19 comments)

Disaster Strikes ~ Any Contingency Plans In Place? - 03/23/10 02:39 PM
If you own a business many think chances are slim disaster will strike. Half or more of the businesses that don't do any planning never get back in business after a disaster. Why? Because there were no plans to protect their financial records and documents. Having everything stored electronically is a step in the right direction with good back-ups but only if kept off site of your facility. Take the companies in the Echelon building in Austin, who would ever anticipate a small plane to crash into their building? Usually fire, theft or water damage is the culprit, never all three (7 comments)
How To Know If You'll Be Missed - 03/22/10 07:41 PM
The workplace has changed. I see many agents experiencing the grass is greener syndrome at the beginning of each year. Many look down at their production and blame it on the broker not giving them enough leads..not feeling appreciated for what they contribute or just having apathy with their office and co-workers. Other industries experience similar scenarios as workers are asked to leave or no longer feel attachment and loyalty to their management or feel respected or valued and actively seek employment elsewhere. The atmosphere of cooperation and caring are essential to maintain productivity and success. A friend of ours, Bill (14 comments)

It appears the project they had on the books years ago is getting resurrected and they are going to start construction on the Villas of Canyon Creek.
It will be a gated community of 53 home sites, all single story homes with only two that will be two stories with master down. Looks like pricing will come in around $250,000 with the square footage between 1,700 - 2,700 (11 comments)

Be Part Of The Cure, Not THE Problem - 03/16/10 04:37 PM
As realtors, I'm quite certain the majority of us can multitask even while driving and that there will be no consequences. As realtors we carry precious cargo with us while showing homes. These families and individuals look to us for our professionalism and dependability while in our care and put their faith and trust in us to be completely responsible. Using your cell phone (talking, texting, and surfing the internet) while driving does cause many accidents - some fatal. Driving a motor vehicle requires your full attention and complete concentration. So when you need to make or receive a phone call, (4 comments)

I was shocked to read that according to the Federal Trade Commission Texas ranks second in the nation for identity theft complaints. There were 32,000 Texans in 2008 to have their identity lifted which translated to thousands of dollars lost and hours of time wasted restructuring the damage to credit ratings and personal financial history. Texans don't take fraud lying down...identity theft awareness has been increased resulting in less frequent providing of personal information. If I'm asked when checking out at a store for my home phone number I do not comply (you are under no obligation). On the back of (8 comments)

There is No Better Effort Than A Team - 03/12/10 05:55 PM
There are great success stories told along with plenty of conjecture on how certain successes are acheived. Some paint a picture of perseverance and others establish and follow goals. Great successes have come from dreams turned into realities. I love the quote from Henry Ford and feel it best portrays Success:"Coming together is a beginning, Keeping together is progress, and Working together is success." (15 comments)

It is predicted that almost 70% of taxpayers will get a refund this year. That means between now and the end of April approximately $230 billion in tax refunds will begin hitting households. Prices of homes are at the lowest levels we have seen in some time. Supply currently exceeds the demand and incredibly low interest rates are available. What a winning combination for buyers!! As if that is not enough incentive if buyers act quickly and execute a contract as late as April 30,2010, first time home buyers can receive up to an $8,000 tax credit and move-up buyers can (2 comments)
