Thankful Thursday ~ Kids are Kids Everywhere - 08/31/11 10:03 PM
Thankful Thursday ~ Kids are Kids Everywhere While in Frankfort, Germany we were investigating My Zeil mall and got a kick out of some little ones on a class outing. If you go to the top floor you have a fantastic view overlooking the city...these little ones were checking out the view..yet still displaying their little personalities with a shove and elbow or two. When we were having lunch in a little side walk restaurant in Chamonix, France a little brother and sister settled a squabble over who would drive the little motor car...the sister of course! Kids are Kids everywhere!! (18 comments)
Motivational Monday ~ It's all in a day's work - 08/29/11 02:31 PM
While riding the gondolas to the Matterhorn Paradise in Zermatt, Switzerland, Gene and I were able to watch the workers in awe continuing to build new structures to carry more tourists and skiers up to higher heights. Helicopters would fly over pad sites with a large bucket attached and workers would catch it and attach a new bucket filled with concrete. This is a system that is slow but practical and what an accomplishment these workers must feel when seeing the end result! Harry S. Truman once said..."I found that the men and women who got up to the top were (16 comments)
Kindergarten ~ One of MY First Discoveries Outside of Home - 08/29/11 01:24 PM
I remember the excitement of getting to ride the bus with my big sister to off to school like she had done for 4 years before me!! My mom of course made our matching outfits and I felt very grown up leaving my younger brother behind to stay at home all day with mom. I was eager to get up early each morning and get to class. I loved to look through the books in our kid's cornerand pick out a special book for story time. Recess for me was great fun because I could get a group together to play (18 comments)
Friday's Fotos ~ My Gosh ~ My Zeil - 08/27/11 07:07 AM
What a treat to experience seeing "My Zeil" Mall that was designed by Massimiliano Fukas in the PalaisQaurtier region of Frankfurt, Germany in 2009. We first saw it in January, 2011 when we were in Frankfurt when it was cold, rainy however full of Christmas décor! In August the flowers were in full bloom and children were on school field trips exploring and riding the escalators. The shopping mall resembles the Milan Trade Fair by Fulkas, which had a large rectangular glass pavilion curving around the blocky forms of the structures inside. The vortex at the front entrance also recalls the BMW Welt (32 comments)

"Matte" "Horn" ~ "Meadow" "Peak"~ Vacation Souveniers - 08/26/11 06:39 AM
"Matte" "Horn" ~ "Meadow" "Peak" ~ Vacation SouveniersThe Matterhorn derives its name from two German words: Matte meaning meadow and Horn meaning peak. The Matterhorn has become an iconic emblem of the Swiss Alps and the Alp's in general. Geno, I and our two traveling buddies (Geno's brother and wife) just returned from 2 weeks in Germany, France and Switzerland. We ended up in Zermatt with the goal to investigate the Matterhorn and the glaciers from top to bottom. The sights were unbelievable and here are just a few of our souveniers: Kristine Ginsberg created an incredible post on her recent (24 comments)
Show Your Clients Your Search Engine Results Page - 08/25/11 05:37 PM
Show Your Clients Your Search Engine Results Page I learned a valuable tip the other day from Barbara Todaro's post. She suggested creating a marketing piece to add to your listing brochure. What a dynamite idea! I formed a page that is a screen shot of a Google search for one keyword phrase: "Canyon Creek in Austin, TX". My blogging certainly contributes to my phone ringing so I should be showing clients how my marketing efforts work! They do need to see it. Thank you Barbara...a new addition that showcases why my listings are selling! Open publication - Free publishing - (12 comments)
A Wise Investment at Closing ~ Residential Service Contract - 08/25/11 11:35 AM
There are pros and cons to a residential service contract but I always advise my sellers this is a prudent investment on their part and will be dollars well spent for their buyer at closing. It is common place in Austin, Texas for a buyer to request the seller to pay at closing a year warranty for the purchase of a service contract. the cost varies from $400-$550 (without additional pool coverage,etc.). The buyer even gets to choose the policy and company. One of our listings closed last week. We just earned the distinction of the "hottest" summer in Austin ever recorded (14 comments)

The National Association of Realtors® is always compiling statistics on profiles of Realtors®. A recent Texas oversample of research compiled by NAR answered some interesting questions. Is the average Texas Realtor getting younger or older? It's fun to see the demographics and business activity of our peers.Checking out these statistics how do you compare to others in the business? 1. Two-thirds of all Texas Realtors® are 50 or older. 2. 74% of Texas Realtors list real estate as their only profession. 3. 14% of Texas Realtors who are licensed have at least one personal assistant. 4. 8% of (28 comments)

Austin, Texas ~ "School Days, School Days, Good Old Golden Rule Days!" - 08/04/11 02:56 PM
Well, it’s just about time! School here in Austin starts in three weeks on August 23rd. The stores are already displaying all the school supply lists from each school and are fully stocked to fill those lists. You see the moms and their kiddos busy choosing just the right binders and pens. It’s time to mark your calendars with a star for that first day of school and all the days off during the coming school year. You can feel the excitement of the younger ones and see the dread on the faces of the older ones (except for those (10 comments)
Ya'll Will Love Our Texas Basements - 08/04/11 06:40 AM
In NW Austin most of our homes are built with post tension cable slabs. We build on bedrock so they are the most efficient foundations. Other parts of Austin may experience more expansive soil so a pier and beam foundation is prevalent in these areas. Either way you are not going to find a traditional basement like other areas of the country. When working with out of state buyers it's hard for them to grasp the idea they aren't going to have a basement to use as storage like they currently do! I always make a point of showing off what we refer to as (20 comments)
Are You The Business Manager Of Your Listings? - 08/03/11 05:14 PM
Are You The Business Manager Of Your Listings? As a listing agent do you think of yourself as the Business Manager of your seller's property. If you don't maybe you should. When interviewing on a listing appointment I often refer to myself as applying for the job of "Business Manager" in the sale of your home. My perception of the role of a listing agent is managing the process and keeping all parties focused on the sale of the home. That includes setting expectations for what is the probable profile of the buyer and what to expect in terms of (20 comments)
