arboretum: Bucking traditions ~ A wine to remember ~ Meiomi Pinot Noir - 06/15/15 01:45 AM

Geno and I were hungry for seafood and enjoy the excellent food and service at Eddie V’s in the Arboretum. I prefer a Chardonnay and Geno red but we decided to take a taste test of various Pinot Noirs. It was fun to explore possibilities of something fresh which could satisfy both our taste buds.
We settled on Meiomi and so glad we did! The name means “coast” and it is a California wine from the Caymus Vineyards. It is a combination of Pinor Noir and Chardonnay...not a traditional blend! It offers an exciting chemistry of berry, oak, earth and spice … (18 comments)

Help Make Austin’s Ronald McDonald’s House Wish List Come True

I’m not talking about “McDonalds” the fast food restaurant with the Golden Arches! I’m referring to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas.
In Austin we are fortunate to have Austin’s Ronald McDonald House. They offer A “Home away from home” for families outside of Austin whose children receive medical treatment at one of the areas nearby hospitals. They offer families a place to stay and sleep, eat and relax.
Donations help keep the families staying at Austin’s Ronald McDonald House more comfortable. Items are needed year round and your donation can make … (13 comments)

MOO Approval at the Sculpture Garden and Park~Arboretum NW Austin

I love relaxing at the Sculpture Garden and Park at the Arboretum by my office! It’s a favorite slice of heaven much loved by children, adults and photographers!
The life size cow marble statues grazing quietly in a heavily wooded, park-like atmosphere is what you will find (created artfully by Harold. F. Clayton noted sculptor and stone carver).

A must see is a visit to Amy’s ice cream situated conveniently near the statues. A creamy dish of Amy’s ice cream leisurely eaten is often said to taste better when eaten … (13 comments)
