I am thankful for one of my favorite holiday traditions in Austin! Every November the Wednesday before Thanksgiving the Junior League of Austin hosts the Christmas Affair; an extravaganza which runs through Sunday! This year’s theme was “Haute Holiday”. Thursday morning is early bird shopping with breakfast and tickets sell out quickly!
My special friend,Roxanne Ford, from Austin Title and I have been observing this tradition for 11 years to kick off the holiday season! The Austin Board of Realtors® recently released good news that the summer selling season ended on a strong note in August 2016! The area continues to be a magnet for jobs and new business across multiple industries. Job creation continues to keep housing demand at an all-time high and inventory at near record lows despite an increase in the number of listings in the market.

What a perfect setting for our annual Canyon Creek Subdivision, Easter Egg Hunt! We moved the event from Trailhead Park to the Canyon Creek Park this year. The sloping venue amongst the trees worked perfectly to hide our Easter Eggs and divide out the 3 groups of youngster’s participating!
Jennifer Zimmerman and I teamed up to get this event back on track and were so glad we did!! It was a thrill to see all the residents with their kids and grand-kids streaming into the park. Sharing life together in our community is one of the many things we both love about … (12 comments)

Recently Handsome Hudson’s cousin Hailey (who is home from college for Christmas break) took him for an outing at the Dino Pit at the Austin Nature Science Center which is located in Northwest Zilker Park. This is a free activity that kids will be begging you for a repeat visit.
Hudson delighted in uncovering the casts of dinosaur fossils..another exceptional memory making activity for kids in Austin!

Check out the Canyon Creek area single family homes comparison of sold homes in the Third quarter of 2015 to 2014.
 
Third Quarter 2015 market performances have been very good, with average days to offer of 24 days, a 17% decrease from 2014.  50% more homes closed than 2014. The average sales to list price ratio was 98.7%...slightly higher than 2014. The average sold price increased by a more palatable number of 3.9% for buyers compared to 24% in 2014!

I read an interesting article Chicken or the Egg Conundrum in Forbes Magazine which totally relates to the Austin Housing market! They asked which came first the house or the homebuyer? In Austin it's definitely the homebuyer. The good news is the Federal Reserve kept a lid on interest rates. Good thing for the buyers if only they could find a home to fit their needs at a price they can afford!

I love to see our students in the Canyon Creek Subdivision mobilize their efforts to make a difference for programs that help others! Kudos to Manjula and Malika for organizing: “Summer Send-Off Celebration" at Canyon Creek Elementary School, on Saturday August 15, 2015 at 5 pm!
Their party is scheduled so the whole family can participate in music, games, food and even a scavenger hunt! How cool is this???
All proceeds from this celebration will go to the United Nations World Food Program…the World’s largest organization fighting hunger worldwide.  Let’s all come out and support Manjula … (21 comments)
