austin tx: "Foodie" Fridays in Austin 5-18-12 - 05/18/12 03:56 AM
Foodie Fridays in AustinIt’s Friday again and time to make plans to eat out. Austin has so many interesting places to dine.  There is something for everyone... new ones pop up and then there are the old time favorites. I’ve got some good choices this week if you’re in the mood for authentic Mexican cuisine in downtown Austin:

1. Guero’s Taco Bar   http://www.guerostacobar.com/
Back in the late 1800’s Guero’s dining room was a local seed and feed store that was a local meeting place for many of South Austin’s characters. You knew there were dice games going on … (12 comments)

austin tx: A new app ~ beDJ ~ Only in Austin - 05/17/12 12:55 PM
This time a quintet of UT students founded another young Austin based company called Symplexum LLC. They have developed a smartphone application designed to connect to venues with visitors via music criticism. The app is called beDJ and it is intended to give users a method of rating music in public spaces while providing the owners of such venues with customer analytics.
This sounds like a natural for Austin, Texas ..the live music capital!
This app is aimed at the vendors (bars, stores, restaurants etc. ) to provide something to engage the customer! If the venue can entice the customer to … (16 comments)

austin tx: Rudy's Homemade Breakfast Tacos ~ Made to Order - 05/15/12 04:15 AM
On the edge of the Texas Hill Country just North of San Antonio sits Leon Springs founded in the 1800’s by Max Aue. Life changed for the small community when his son Rudolph opened a one-stop gas station, garage and grocery store! In 1989 BBQ was added to the operation using original recipes that are now enjoyed throughout the Southwest.

Many a vendor will bring our office warm homemade tacos made from Rudy’s for our Tuesday office meetings complete with their special “Sause”.It’s amazing to see the numbers of fresh tacos made each morning. The employees are skilled and have … (11 comments)

Independence Title sponsored a Special Austin Market Update this morning at the Barton Creek Country Club which I attended with colleagues Christina Harmon and Monica Suhnholz (son John was there too and graciously took our picture with Mark Sprague).
The two great speakers were excellent and brought relevance to why Austin is where people want to move! Dr. Nola Wellman Superintendent of the Eanes ISD talked to us about why Eanes schools are on the cutting edge of the trends producing graduates who are ready for the workplace. She talked about the strategies they use to bring about their documented high … (6 comments)

austin tx: Only in Austin - 03/13/12 03:41 AM
Austin is use to making the national news...#1...#2...all kinds of accolades as Austin has been touted as the city who is successfully leading the pack in creating jobs and being the most affordable place to live.
Austin has our share of characters and many like to uphold our slogan (some more closely to the vest than others) "Keep Austin Weird".  We are known to embrace our "weirdness" and revel in what makes Austin different from other growing cities.
We made the National news again when our Mayor, Lee Leffingwell, proclaimed March 8th, 2012 "Leslie Cochran Day" issuing an official proclamation calling … (30 comments)

During the ceremony John went first in repeating his vows. After Erika tenderly but firmly said her vows we heard her softly say "I love you more" and smiled sweetly."The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return."....From "Unforgettable with Love" by Natalie Cole

austin tx: Motivational Monday ~When You Thought I Wasn't Looking - 09/05/11 07:40 AM

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking
A message every adult should read because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.  When You Thought I Wasn't Looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately   wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.    When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little   things can be the special things in life. … (42 comments)
