New Homeowners Insurance Policies in Central Texas in JeopardyCentral Texas has been plagued with searing temperatures, no rain and now catastophic fires. To add insult to injury now multiple insurance carriers will not issue new home owner policies for homes trying to close in various areas of Central Texas due to fire risk. Many previously uninsured property owners are attempting to get insurance in areas where there are current fires therefore the insurers have placed a moratorium on new policies in those areas.To insure our clients interests are looked after we are proactively speaking to insurance companies early in any transaction. Many homeowners' are re-evaluating the size of their home and the allocation of their discretionary income. It may be kids are off to college or close to being off which instigates an assessment of monthly expenses. Priorities in households are changing and money is needed for college tuition, a new car, living exspences or maybe just traveling. It is no different than a business looking at the allocation of funds for marketing and what works best in today's changing world. Change is good and we need to act on what we discover to make an informed decision on what works best for us (14 comments)

We are already getting calls from past clients and those in our market area for comparable sales to be used to protest their tax appraisal. Homeowners have begun receiving their Travis Central Appraisal District appraisal notices. According to Chief appraiser Patrick Brown last year, the Travis district was swamped with 94,325 protests ~ 50% more than usual ~ and mailed settlement offers to 21,605 homeowners, something never done before. More than a quarter of the protests were resolved without hearings. To streamline the process this year they are offering handling appraisal protests online. Coffee filters....who knew the wonderful uses! You can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing even the large ones and look at what you can do with them: 1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent filters. 2. Clean windows, mirrors and chrome...Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll leave windows sparkling. 3. Protect china by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish. 4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter. 5. Protect a cast (34 comments)
