Philadelphia is Host To The Oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade In the Country1920 was the first year of Philadelphia's Thanksgiving Day Parade and this Thursday the parade will go on again!  Floats depicting cartoon characters will be making their way down the Ben Franklin Parkway to the Art Museum from 8:30 AM until around 12 Noon.  It is a fun event for children and the young at heart. I have fond memories of going to this parade with my dad and 2 of my sisters, bundled up in warm clothes and standing near the Art Museum watching the floats go by.   Of course … (10 comments)

A "Random Act Of Culture" In Philadelphia - 11/13/10 08:46 PM
Macy's Department Store located in downtown Philadelphia is home to one of the most amazing operational pipe organs in the world.  This amazing organ was purchased and installed in 1909 by John Wanamaker for his department store, which is now Macy's.  The organ has been part of the downtown experience ever since.
On Saturday October 30th the organ was part of a "Random Act of Culture", suppling the music for the Philadelphia Opera Company that burst into song for all the unknowing visitors at the store.

Local Investors Revive Building in Chester, PA Re-Establishing The Building's Connection To Local Veterans - Open House Veterans Day - 11/07/10 09:32 PM
Wednesday is Veterans Day and there will be an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 11 AM at Buchman Meadows, a historic building in Chester, Delaware County, PA.   Personally moved by a news story about helping Veterans, a group of local investors, Trimerge Investors, LLC purchased the vacant 42 Apartment Buchman Meadows and transformed it into affordable apartments for Veterans and others in need. 
This building once served as a hospital for Veterans.
Hats off to the Trimerge Investors, LLC for their desire to help our local Veterans!
