Financial Times magazine "fDi" http://www.fdiintelligence.com/ has ranked Nanaimo as one of the top cities under 100,000 people for quality of life. Life expectancy, hospital beds/1000 people, household income and crime rate were some of the factors used to judge some 400 North and South American cities.
It also ranked 3rd for infrastructure with internet speeds, distance to airports, port size and environmental performance some of the factors used to judge.
