There comes a time when we ALL have to accept that our bodies age. The brain will keep telling us we can still do the things we've always done BUT our body reminds us otherwise. Pam & I bought a ranch house with the knowledge we had no plans on ever moving again. Our biggest issue is where in the house do we move the washer & dryer, now located in the basement.

When Pam & I bought our home in 1985 interest rates & prices were excelerating. We had 3 young boys. The owners had purchased the home and moved their folks into the basement. The parents moved out shortly thereafter which made the home impossible for them to carry the payments all by themselves.

I really enjoy having a sense of the Real Estate market locally BUT even nationally. I do think, in most instances, housing prices have a connection with the level of average wages in any given area. The higher the average wage the higher the average housing prices. I think the more bang for your buck would be of interest to retirees.

There are several news agencies reporting, today, that a new BankRate.com survey indicates the 36% of Americans have not been saving for retirement and 25% of those 50 - 64 have not begun to save for retirement. This is troubling. Certainly, most of us see retirement in a different light than our parents [I am 66 in January]. More and more people are indicating they do not plan on retiring because they will not be financially able to.
