Southeast of Tucson is the community known as Rancho del Lago. With a slightly higher elevation than Tucson, Rancho del Lago is a few degrees cooler. Tucson real estate holds another historic treasure called Armory Park. On the old Military Plaza known in the 1870's as Camp Lowell was the early settlement known as Armory Park. During this time Tucson was the most populous community in the Arizona Territory. With the construction of the railroad in 1880, Armory Park realized a new transformation. Midvale Park is a master development started in the 1980's. Prior to the development it was a large cotton field with a grove of pecan trees along Drexel Road. I remember passing by on my way home from swing shift when it was cotton fields. As soon as you crossed the Santa Cruz River you could feel the cool air from the cotton fields during those summer nights. Once past the fields it was another story. I Love Open Houses and Tucson Real Estate - 03/13/11 06:03 PM
When I run out of homes to sell, which happens more often than I like, I hold Open Houses for other Agents. The fun of it is picking which houses to hold open. Which transalates to seeing some really nice home. Buyers aren't the only ones who get to shop around. Today's Open House is at 2001 S Dimond D. Backed up to the Tucson Mountain Reserve amongst other beautiful southwestern style homes. The people in the neighborhood have been very friendly.

Located in central Tucson, the El Encanto Estates is a much desired community for luxury and historical homes. Development began in 1929 and lasted into the early 1940's, 145 homes populate this exclusive neighborhood. The formal, geometric subdivision plat is one of the first in Arizona. Homes range from 2,400 square feet to 6,000 square feet. Lots range from ½ acre to full acres. Included as a historical district, 53 of the 145 homes contributed to the designation. Approximately 20 minutes south of Tucson is the magical Community of Rancho Sahaurita. The only community in the Tucson area with a man made 10 acre lake where community members can go sailing and fishing. This area has grown over the past decade to become a leading community in the metro Tucson area. Well manicured and maintained, it is always a pleasure to drive through this community. Like Continental Ranch, it has something for everyone. The newer strip mall brought shopping to the community.

Continental Ranch and Continental Reserve is located in northwest Tucson. Continental Ranch was the first community established in the 1980's along Silverbell Road north of Cortaro Farm road. It has grown into a master community of numerous smaller subdivisions. Continental Ranch and Continental Reserve have something for everyone. It seems that there are a lot of red lights flashing, crossing arms are down, and no trains are coming. As banks are supposedly trying to pull out of the mess they created they continue to astonish me with their level of decision making, or lack thereof. I recall a story of a large Corporation, I want to say Nextel, over a decade ago allowed its employees to make decisions at the lowest level. When I see the national news about real estate in Arizona, Phoenix is always mentioned and Tucson not. There are big differences between the two markets. Phoenix is much larger than Tucson. The frenzy in the housing market was much larger there. The burst from the bubble is larger in Phoenix.
