living in toronto: Need a PET VET Bloor west Village? - 12/05/11 10:52 AM
Our friend of 21 years became ill, lethargic and declined to beat and accost the puppy. Initially we thought nothing of the malaise for a day or two, till we noticed he was not eating. Loss of appetite for a cat, cannot be ignored. A quick run to Dr. Christopher O'Toole at the Bloor West Village Animal Hospital quickly confirmed our fears. The staff and Dr's at Bloor west were compassionate and respectful. I hope in your time of an animal friend passing you will have similar support.

So they are getting on in years and your family is almost grown. You're suffering from strong pangs of obligation for your family. Do you bring them in to live with you? Should you look at a separate condo for them to have their own space and privacy? Are you also considering Assisted Living facilities?
Of course, there is the other side of the family that also has elders to consider and as the responsible sibling; obligations always seem to fall to you. SO, Your Mom and Dad are still active and care free, they could stay in their own home … (1 comments)

TD’s Customer Retention Strategy - Collateral Mortgages
Last year TD Canada Trust announced they will be registering all of their mortgages as collateral mortgages. What does this mean for the consumer?
TD has instituted some very popular banking changes in the last few years....extended banking hours and opening branches on weekends to name a few. With the announcement of registering all of their mortgages as a collateral mortgage they were trumpeting it in the media as a major win for consumers....but is it really?First let’s talk about what makes a collateral mortgage unique.
Unlike a traditional mortgage a collateral loan is … (2 comments)

living in toronto: What makes a community? - 06/04/11 11:34 AM
What Makes that special Community in West Toronto Its a beautiful start to the Summer in Bloor West Village I'm with Michael Krisa and I'd like want to talk about what makes a community worthwhile to live in. Give us your thoughts.. This is a perfect example. You're basically in the corridor of High Park, which is a lovely area in Toronto. Pardon the back ground noise. Its kind of contradictory, but they are doing construction. Look at the ambiance. You've got these trees that are hundreds of years old.

Century Type Homes and this is something that you cannot … (0 comments)

living in toronto: The call of the Drums on Lake Shore Toronto - 04/30/11 08:07 PM
The sounds of the live congo beat could be heard across the Lake Shore at Ellis avenue. We ventured out with the dog along the Martin Goodman Trail. The cyclists were out! A few on roller blades, best of all the kids - were all over the gym equipment at the parkette on the Lake Shore. There was a splash pad planned here. I'll ask... People smiled at each other and nodded Hello as we passed, enjoying a warm day to promenade along the walking path from the Humber Bridge to the Sunny Side Pavillion. The Humber Bay Shore Community is … (1 comments)

living in toronto: You taught me a good lesson about referrals - 03/01/11 08:26 AM
We recently received a call from an agent in Calgary, Alberta that had someone in Toronto who needed to deal with a house near Ossington and Dupont. (As an Accredited Senior Agent) We are often contacted by now, out of town, grown children who now reside elsewhere in Canada. This agent asked about my knowledge of west Toronto neighbourhoods, my proximity to the listing, sales history and experience, number of current listings in addition to number of years in real estate. I thought I had answered well and directed the Calgary agent to Google Homes west Toronto as a sampling of … (0 comments)

living in toronto: You should be afraid It could happen to you! - 01/22/11 10:16 AM
We are all afraid of... Yes the neighbour from Hell! Who lives next door; How do they keep their place? How will we get along? This is a fun although sad vignette that I found in MacLeans
The builder tells a different story: “[The client] spent more than he intended; he asked for things that weren’t part of the contract, and he manufactured deficiencies.” The matter went to court, resulting in suits and countersuits; issues remain before the courts, which is why none of the parties agreed to be named. A few months into the fight, witnesses report, the businessman … (3 comments)

living in toronto: Swim with the sharks or fish food? - 01/15/11 06:06 PM
Sometimes You are the shark, sometimes we are the bait;
Looking for things to post related to real estate I found an aquarium that you build colour and populate; The fish follow your mouse and you click to drop food. You could add a back ground of your own. Create your own aquarium. http://abowman.com/google-modules/fish/#gadgetSWF

living in toronto: Create a Confidence Crisis - 12/30/10 11:17 AM
Scarey headlines topped the newspapers this year, The Montreal Gazelle adds a year end reflective; That there was never any reality for all the bubble and housing price level concerns that dominated through out the year. It lays the commentary directly attributable to one person. ..that Canada could be headed into the same kind of disastrous real-estate bubble and meltdown that we saw right across the border. And a superficial look is just what this issue got. There was never a solid basis for the scary speculation, but it just kept bubbling up. Serious Canadian media, including Toronto's Globe and Mail, … (7 comments)

living in toronto: The Race to Offer the Lowest Commission - 10/19/10 03:04 PM
Consumers are absolutely entitled to the Lowest possible prices for everything that they use. Who has this slogan? " The Lowest Price is the Law" Why not Free?
If a consumer had the choice to pay $4.00 or $8.00 for the same item what would they select? If you were shopping for bed linens and you found the 400 thread count sheets at Winner's or a boutique location at Hazelton Lanes in Yorkville would your selection be any different? So every store in Hazelton Lanes should close! But... real estate services are not packages that can be delivered off the self. … (7 comments)

living in toronto: Where is better than Bloor West Village? - 10/16/10 02:47 PM
When is one location superior to another; Ok ok we are firmly in the Bloor West Village Toronto neighbourhood and comparing Beresford to Armadale or is Colbeck a superior location. Is it OK to pay this much money for Runnymede? What about the side of the street to the west of Jane; Where does it become Old Mill? Past the bridge? On the South Side it is called Brule Gardens, the street and neighbourhood is referred to as Riverside Dr., as riverside follows the top and bank south from Baby Point to Lake Ontario at Ellis Avenue. So a ravine lot … (0 comments)

living in toronto: Wasting Money with the TTC - 09/30/10 10:57 AM
While others may view the reported $15,000 as a waste of money, I think the year end piece from Giambrone highlights the usefulness of the TTC to reach out to ITS riders in a topical and deliverable message. The TTC has used focus groups and has implemented some new customer service responses.

What did I see? Wifi on the trains, Stay in Touch with texting, More bathrooms, Better scheduling and Video screens on each station telling you future time? Do all these help curtail frustrations? Absolutely! Advertising their reliability. Is $15,000 excessive? I shoot commercials for myself and my properties … (4 comments)

living in toronto: Qualified for A condominium Home Inspection - 09/28/10 08:15 AM
A book by Mark Weisleder – Put the Pen Down! What Homebuyers and Sellers Need to Know Before Signing On The Dotted Line – will prepare you well for closing day, and the day after.
The veteran real estate lawyer and instructor adapted two other books he wrote for real estate agents to suit the owners and buyers who pay for their services. He has packed in a wealth of information.
More importantly, an inspector could gauge the condition of the building’s heating, ventilation and air condition system, the roof and the garage. He or she could look into the building status certificate, condo … (5 comments)

living in toronto: The lesson is to really listen - 09/18/10 10:25 AM
Right HEAR, right now. Are you listening to me?  Are you really listening to me?

Turns out I may not have been listening so well to you.

I’m going to change that.

First off, I intend to start looking away from my blackberry long enough to listen with my eyes as well as my ears. A persons facial expressions, their stance, are a dead giveaway for how someone is feeling before they even start talking.

Secondly, if I’m going to ask my kids about their day at school or work, I should avoid anticipating their usual  “okay” … (5 comments)

living in toronto: Selling your home With Social Media - 09/10/10 01:24 PM
Sell your home using social mediaGone are the days of newspaper classifieds. Savvy sellers are turning to Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to market their homes.
Wanda Reglin recently sold her home in Nanaimo, B.C., after it had been on the market for two years. Described as a "gorgeous four-year-old, executive, level entry home with full walkout basement and brilliant southern exposure within walking distance to spectacular beaches," she had it listed on a variety of websites, including craigslist, Kijiji and the local UsedNanaimo.com. Still, she turned to social networking in hopes of increasing her listing's exposure.
With such a large captive audience … (7 comments)
