Good News: The "Absorption Rate" is shrinking! Wait! What is "Absorption Rate", why is it shrinking and why is that good news? For example, some time in 2008, the absorption rate for Sebring, Florida was way over 24 months. This meant that at the time it would take over 24 months for all the homes listed for sale to be sold if no new listings entered the market. While "floridadisaster.org" doesn't sound appealing at all, the website created by the Florida Division of Emergency Management has a great tool to compile an emergency plan tailored specifically to your family needs in Highlands County. This tool is fun to use, we actually used it ourselves to get our plan. Hurricane Season 2010 predicted to be above average! The hurricane season forecast from Colorado State University's Tropical Meteorology Project predicts above average activity in the Atlantic for 2010 beginning June 1st. The December 2009 report estimates approximately 11-16 named storms, 6-8 hurricanes and 3-5 major hurricanes. The effects of El Nino or La Nina have an impact on the frequency of hurricanes. At the time we receive an offer, we will need the following documents from you: last 2 month of bank statements, last 2 months of proof of income, last two years of tax returns (if 2009 isn't filed yet, we need copies of your W2's), hardship letter in writing (signed and dated), a financial worksheet.
