August 29th, 2011 is the beginning of the school year in Howard County, Maryland. At least, that was the plan. August 29th was the date every parent from Elkridge to Columbia, Ellicott City to Woodbine had circled in their planner and got reminded of by their phones. However, there will be no yellow buses to watch out for in the morning and the schools will be sans students!

I can only say it again PLEASE HEED THE WARNINGS! Parts of Maryland are under a Hurricane Warning and other counties (Baltimore City/County, Howard County, Montgomery County) are under a Tropical Storm Warning. Tropical Storm winds can still cause extensive damage - it does not take 100 mph to blow your lawnchair, trashcan, potted plants around ... Unless you want your neighbor knocking on your door tomorrow to inform you that one of your belongings ended up in their living room, please do secure everything or bring it inside.

August 6th - 13th, 2011 HOWARD COUNTY, MD annual fair in West Friendship

The 66th Annual Howard County Fair kicks off this weekend. Grand opening is on Sunday August 7th with a Parade and the Baltimore's Marching Ravens.


Saturday August 6th is Family Armed Forces Day = FREE Admission with valid military ID!
Hours: daily from 8 am to 11 pm
Admission: $5 (10 yrs.+) and $2 Seniors
Ride Specials:Saturdays POP $15 sold until 4 pm and $20 sold from 4 - 8 pm;Sundays POP $18 sold until 4 pm

howard county maryland: Sacred Sunday - 06/26/11 11:02 AM
Growing up in Germany, Sunday's were always reserved for family-time. No exceptions. Banks are closed. Stores are shut down. Trucks have to stay off the roads. You do not work. You do not clean. You simply enjoy your family. 
As tempting as this sounds, it is not very realistic for a Real Estate Agent. Sundays are our Tuesdays! To this day, my grandmother will gasp and say "But honey! It's Sunday!" when we talk and I share my weekend work schedule with her. 
I'm not willing to let it go completely - it's in my genes afterall - and treasure the time … (3 comments)
