web: THE MOST DANGEROUS SEARCH TERMS ON THE WEB - 06/20/11 12:02 PM

The top 10 most dangerous internet search terms (The Telegraph)
The above is a  link to very interesting article from the UK Telegraph newspaper regarding some of the “most dangerous” words that can get web surfers into trouble. By “trouble”, they mean ending up on websites where there's a very good chance that something nasty, better known as “malware” might end up being downloaded onto the visitor's PC.
The list that they provide is a little UK-centric, but there's a link to a McAfee (here it is – it's a PDF file) study from 2008 which shows the most dangerous … (4 comments)

web: LETTER AND SYMBOLS AND NUMBERS - OH MY! - 05/15/09 08:40 AM

DAVE'S FRIDAY FEATURE
This is the third and final part of what has become an eagerly followed (yeah right!) mini-series I've nicknamed “WEBIQUETTE”. To end the week on a fun note, today I'm going to talk about alphabetical-to-numerical conversions.
Switching letters for numbers is as old as the pocket calculator. Remember when the cool thing was to type in a formula and then turn your calculator upside-down and read? You don't remember? Oh, you probably had a life...

Okay, now you're totally l33t and will be able to … (12 comments)

web: Use of the Internet for Real Estate decisions growing... - 04/16/09 10:06 AM
The Internet has become to the current generations what TV became to a generation or two back. Instant communication, a potentially large audience and (unlike TV) anyone can have a voice or become a “celebrity” of sorts, all thanks to technology.
Yes, so many people are focusing everything on this still relatively new medium. Many are convinced that the Internet “is the way of the future”. To some degree, I would agree, but not completely..
According the most current Pew (www.pewinternet.org) statistics, over 70% of American adults use the Internet. Here are some interesting statistics:.
75% of Women use the Internet.

web: What's in a name? - 07/24/08 12:25 PM
ICANN, the company partially responsible for the good domain name shortage is considering some major new domain name extensions, including a possible "free for all", allowing companies to use their own extensions to domains instead of traditional .com, .net etc.
In recent years, there have been many new extensions made available including .info, .mobi, .tv and .name. Yet there is still a perceived value in a .com web site. While I believe this "value" is somewhat overrated, nearly all by customers, with one exception (Kelly Courvisier and www.goldcanyonranch.net - there you go Kelly, free plug :)  ) request a .com extension.
It's … (0 comments)
