cape carteret: Meeting people's lifestyle needs - 07/09/07 10:44 PM
When I first looking for coastal property, I had a tremendous number of questions that I wanted answered before I moved to the coast. It took nearly three summers and multiple real estate agents before I got to the point of buying a property. Many of the questions I ended up answering myself or asking someone other than my real estate agent. Now that I am a real estate agent, I have made a tremendous effort at learning as much as I can about our area. Much of my knowledge I have put in five websites that I maintain, Southern Outer Banks, Coastal Paradise, Living

cape carteret: Credibility and clients - 05/27/07 12:19 PM
A picture of a round hay baler might seem like a funny picture to start a real estate blog. It is very relevant in an unusual sort of way. One of my three careers was running a purebred cattle operation, Tay Ridge Angus, in Canada, north of Fredericton, NB. We did that for eleven years, before I began my career in technology that included nearly twenty years at Apple. The total crew on our farm for two hundred head of cattle was myself and an older gentleman (over seventy) who would help me rake hay in the summer. He replaced my wife when

cape carteret: The water is nice, time to visit the beach before the crowds - 04/25/07 02:36 PM
Well there is no question in my mind that the official beach season is open. We had friends visiting us in Cape Carteret this past weekend. I thought that I was going to have to carry them off the Emerald Isle beach on Sunday evening. The weather was so cooperative and the water had warmed to the point that it was nice enough to get any without a severe shock to the body. I was only sorry we had not brought some beach chairs. This was the first time the weather was nice enough to make me want to take a nap in

cape carteret: Making the mountains or coast decision - 04/07/07 09:58 PM
My wife and I are both native North Carolinians. We both spent much of our early years in the Mount Airy, NC area. The Blue Ridge Mountains were just a few miles away. A trip up to the Parkway was a normal thing to do on a hot summer day. The temperature was often ten to fifteen degrees cooler. Taking a picnic up to the Parkway was a great summer activity. Then there was the trip to Mount Mitchell with it spruce forests which were like another world. Living on the side of the mountain was a dream for many of us

cape carteret: Cape Carteret's dual personalites - 03/27/07 03:57 PM
Carteret County if you can believe the information on City-data.com is more water than land. We dneed reports to figure out that we have plenty of water in Carteret County. C ape Carteret is in the western side of Carteret County which has easily accessible beaches and plenty of other water. If you are thinking about living in the Cape Carteret area, you first need to decide what kind of water you want to be near. Cape Carteret proper, which runs along Higheway 24 has lots of sound and creek access. Though we live two or three miles up Highway 58 along the

cape carteret: A Coastal Paradise Found - 03/12/07 01:29 PM
Sometimes it takes forty years to come to your senses. It was about that long ago when I first drove through one of the dune access road onto the beach and headed down to the Point at Emerald Isle. Things have changed massively since those days. If I had only known what I know now, I probably would never have gone back to the mountains. It was with great pleasure that my wife and I moved to the shores of the White Oak River near Cape Carteret last September. It was the culmination of three summers of looking for the best
