I am just baffled as to what it is a seller is thinking when they choose a real estate agent.  One would think, especially in this environment, that obtaining representation for such a large investment would be a painstakingly detailed process for most people.  Not even close!

I checked my local hot sheet for the 100th time today and noticed a familiar looking address.  Like any one of us would, I clicked to view the full listing and yup, my long time client listed with the local well known fast food chain!  Now I know there are good and bad pickles in every hamburger joint, and I am sure this agent is a very nice person.......BUT I know that agent Big Mac has a local full time sales career outside of the industry, per our local MLS has closed one transaction in his/her career and is still considered in training.

I worked with this client, a few years back, when they were a buyer and fiancée.  They struggled through agents and finally clicked with me, searching high and low we found the perfect first place. They thanked me over and over for a smooth transaction and even sent a very nice hand written thank you note, which I use in my listing tools today!  We communicated over the years through congratulatory wishes, wedding, first child, sent holiday cards, newsletters and the like.

Several months ago the Mrs. Called to advise they were considering a move closer to work.  Now that they had children the commute was too much.  Of course they purchased at the worst possible time, so I went through the market stats put together my usual charts graphs and CMA data.  We discussed their options and they were going to wait for spring.  Met the Mr. in the grocery store about a month ago had a nice chat, all was status quo. Until a few hours ago?????

When will people realize that just because the marquee looks familiar on the outside; it does not guarantee that all the burgers have the special sauce!

Do I sound a bit bitter? Maybe; disappointed? Definitely.

I am a 24/7 agent, who prides herself on being up-to-date with all the latest industry news, local trends, I have a competitive marketing plan, vast internet presence; have proven track record and a good reputation.

Never mind that I personally provided Mr. & Mrs. Happy Meal with 5 star customer service in the past.

Note to EVERY real estate consumer: Interview your agents!

Although you have a signed agreement with the Brokerage you are being represented by that one agent.  The color of the sign does not guarantee the quality of the salesperson.
