Quiet Before the Storm - 11/30/07 05:15 PM
Hello all just wanted to post a few observations; 1. Daily News about pulling out of Iraq and us losing over there ? What happened ? Where is the politically correct ? Did we win ? 2. Daily barage of doomsday news about Real Estate, Don't get me wrong but I just do not see the constant barrage of news lately. Any thoughts on this phenomenau ( did I spell it right ? ). 3. Title Companies, Lenders keep coming in and telling us "The buyers are returning". Still quiet on the western front, How is it in your neighborhood ? 4. We and rainy

New robots.txt commands: make sure that Google can index your site - 11/29/07 12:11 AM
It seems that Google is currently experimenting with new robots.txt commands. If your robots.txt file accidentally contains one of the new commands, it might be that your robots.txt file tells Google to go away. What is a robots.txt file? The robots.txt file is a simple text file that must be placed in your root directory (http://www.example.com/robots.txt). It tells the search engine spider which web pages on your website should be indexed and which web pages should be ignored. You can use a simple text editor to create a robots.txt file. The content of a robots.txt file consists of so-called "records". A record contains the information

Happy Holidays Everyone, Let's Kick off the Season with a Holiday Guide to Holiday Eating - 11/17/07 02:33 AM
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the holiday spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls. 2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt Scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two.

It's About Customer Service Stupid ! - 11/14/07 01:06 PM
I do ,know how many of you remember when President Clinton was first campaigning for the office of President in his campaign offices they had little reminders like: It's about the Economy Stupid ! ? Well in Real Estate what do we do ? We perform a service for the Public. Some of the major things we must do are; 1. Listen to our clinets ( really not just pretend ). 2. Communicate, good news and bad news on a regular basis. 3. Stay in contact even after the sale. The rest you can fill in the blank, It's called our job things like; 1. Ad's in the

Troubleshooting: how search engines can misunderstand your web pages - 11/14/07 12:15 PM
This is a common problem. Your web designer has created a beautiful page with nice graphics and great Flash animations. Unfortunately, it seems that search engines won't list your website no matter what you do. This can have several reasons: a) The HTML code of your web pages is meaningless to search engines Search engines use very simple software programs to index your web pages. A web page that looks great to the human eye can be totally meaningless to search engines. Search engines cannot see content that is presented in images (GIF, JPEG, PNG, etc.), Flash elements, JavaScript and other script languages or

Reciprocal Links are ( still ) not dead - 11/14/07 11:45 AM
Reciprocal Links are ( still ) not dead Reciprocal links are not dead. Weren't dead before. Aren't dead now. I know it and you know it. But for just a second let's pretend otherwise. A while back there was quite a bit of scare mongering going around the SEO industry about how reciprocal links were dead. I had a potential client once tell me that so-and-so-big-name-in-the-SEO-industry told them that reciprocal links were dead. I've said this before and I'll say it here again. There is nothing wrong with reciprocal links. It's all about how you use/implement them that matters. No, reciprocal links

Top 6 Reasons why your Search Engine Rankings have Dropped - 11/14/07 11:38 AM
Have your rankings dropped recently? Before you do anything, you should try to find out what has caused your ranking drop. The better you understand the reason why your rankings dropped, the better you can prevent your website from future ranking drops. There are six major reasons for ranking drops: 1. Your website changes Most webmasters update their web pages regularly. As long as the changes are only small, this won't have a big effect on your rankings. However, if you re-design your web pages or if you optimize a page for a new search term then search engines might re-calculate your

History of the Search Engine - What Came Before Google? - 11/14/07 11:18 AM
Although we credit Google, Yahoo, and other major search engines for giving us the system we use to find the information we seek, the concept of hypertext came to life in 1945 when Vannaver Bush urged scientist to work together to help build a body of knowledge for all man kind. He then proposed the idea of a virtually limitless, fast, reliable, extensible, associative memory storage and retrieval system. He named this device a memex. But there is a long list of great minds that have given us the information system we now use today. This article illustrates some of them. Here
