Urban living has just become more attainable with the massive downtown at Burj Dubai, currently under construction. It is set to include a variety of luxury high-rise and low-rise apartments, a mixture of traditional and modern architecture, all set around the prestigious Burj Dubai tower, the world's tallest building. Some of the residences are already complete, with many more expected to be complete over the next year, before the Burj Dubai is finished at the end of 2008.

Everyone all over the world is now aware that the Burj Dubai is the tallest building on the planet, and it is getting taller everyday. Now that the glass paneling is being put on this magnificent piece of architecture, it’s easier to imagine what living there would be like. The building is set to house both residential and commercial property, but it’s the former that will prove to be most interesting. What must it be like to live in what will be one of the world’s most famous skyscrapers?

It has just been announced that the current height of the Burj Dubai is 531.3m. That's 145 stories up (wow!) and about 19.2m higher up than when it became the tallest building in the world. Since that announcement was made on July 21st and it's only 3 weeks on, that's a big increase! While other building projects throughout the Emirates are being severely plagued by construction delays, the Burj Dubai project is steamrollering ahead at a rapid pace.
