Short Love Story Humor

A joke I thought I should pass on...

Short Love Story

A man and a woman who had never met before, but were
both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a Trans-continental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly.....

He in the upper bunk and she in the lower. At 1:00 AM,
The man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying,

'Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold.'

'I have a better idea,' she replied

'Just for tonight, let's pretend that we're married.'

'Wow! That's a great idea!' he exclaimed.

'Good,' she replied. 'Get your own f------ blanket.'

After a moment of silence, he farted.

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod Waterfront Luxury Real Estate Agent Market Report

As the New Year has come and gone I wanted to take a moment to bring all of those that are interested up to speed with the constantly changing real estate market on Cape Cod, in particular the village of Osterville in the Town of Barnstable. I think most of us are looking forward to 2009 with some sort of trepidation that the fallout from the second half of 2008 is not complete and we will continue to see the markets drop exponentially. Let's all take a deep breath and look at some of the positives that are going to effect the real estate market over the next twelve months.

The mortgage rates are near an all time low and could continue to fall! However do not make the mistake of waiting for the bottom because you could end up missing the boat. The difference in a mortgage of 1% is dramatic and if the rates continue to fall we will be at 5% by the beginning of February. The rates will rebound quickly so if you see a great deal take advantage. You should be in constant contact with your mortgage specialist!

Right now the NAR and others ie. Barney Frank are pushing for the Jumbo Mortgage Rates split in Massachusetts and other states be increased to last years levels of $523,000 in Mass or higher. This is particularly important in Osterville where the average median home is around $750,000. As for the new classification loans called the conforming jumbos those rates are today in Mass at 5.68% so take advantage! Don't miss these historic mortgage rates.

Historically when a new president is elected the economy will surge due to growing optimism. When this occurs in conjunction with the falling mortgage rates it is likely the real estate market will see lasting effects as the deals dry up and the prices increase so don't miss the boat! As the market swings into the buying season of March through October the savvy buyers will take advantage, build a responsible strategy and implement it.

There are amazing deals in the real estate market nationally and particularly in Osterville where people have been trying to unload second homes that were purchased at the top of the market 3 years ago. With the local market having depressed by up to 25% in the last 18 months there are vast amounts of equity to be purchased! Remember particularly on the Cape these markets will come back stronger than ever, decisions made today can and will secure financial strength for years to come.

The long and the short of it is be aggressive and make offers on properties that you feel you are getting a good deal on. Don't wait, you will inevitably cost yourself thousands of dollars in the long run. The government takes the housing market very seriously as I'm sure you've noticed and will do everything in its power to get the market fluid again. Banks that have been "bailed out" are now being pressured to start responsibly lending again. This while the Fed is buying up mortgage backed securities to instill more confidence in the banking system means the time to buy is now!

Good luck and feel free to contact me anytime regarding some of the best deals on the Cape

Subject: America

For those of you, who like me, are tired of the constant criticism and increasing persecution of our country.

Written by an Australian Dentist....and too good to delete....

To Kill an American

< /SPAN> You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)

'An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan.

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribe s known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.

The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other na tion in the world in their time of need, never asking a thi ng in return.

When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan . Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books , the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America .

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the m orning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself . Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod Waterfront Luxury Real Estate Agent Top Ten

This weeks top ten and I apologize for the missed weeks....

1. I think the report on Sundays 60 minutes about where the bottom is was quite telling. I'm not sure how people out there feel about the show on the whole but personally I feel the staff and reporters do a great job of digging deep to find the meat of stories. Scott Pelley report about Whitney Tilsons and his views of the "Alt-A and option ARMs" fiasco that is on the horizon was quite sobering. It is frightening to think that according to him and others we are only in the third inning of this economic disaster. Here is a short excerpt of that interview and the rest can be found at this link http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/12/12/60minutes/main4666112.shtml.

Now the Alt-A and option ARM loans made back in the heyday are starting to reset, causing the mortgage payments to go up and homeowners to default.

"The defaults right now are incredibly high. At unprecedented levels. And there's no evidence that the default rate is tapering off. Those defaults almost inevitably are leading to foreclosures, and homes being auctioned, and home prices continuing to fall," Tilson explains.

"What you seem to be saying is that there is a very predictable time bomb effect here?" Pelley asks.

"Exactly. I mean, you can look back at what was written in '05 and '07. You can look at the reset dates. You can look at the current default rates, and it's really very clear and predictable what's gonna happen here," Tilson says.

Just look at a projection from the investment bank of Credit Suisse: there are the billions of dollars in sub-prime mortgages that reset last year and this year. But what hasn't hit yet are Alt-A and option ARM resets, when homeowners will pay higher interest rates in the next three years. We're at the beginning of a second wave.

"How big is the potential damage from the Alt As compared to what we just saw in the sub-primes?" Pelley asks.

"Well, the sub-prime is, was approaching $1 trillion, the Alt-A is about $1 trillion. And then you have option ARMs on top of that. That's probably another $500 billion to $600 billion on top of that," Tilson says.

2. I have great issue with reports of a lobbyist for the National Association of Realtors leaking that the mortgage rates would be dropping to 4.5% didn't do anyone any favors. Anyone that was interested in the buying some of these great deals out there right now in the market is now back on the sideline waiting for this possible new mortgage rate. Thanks for nothing....

3. CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett both going to the Yankees. They must have something for initials down in New York this off season. I think if they were trying to buy a new pitching staff this year they are off to one hell of a start. However I believe Sabathia is 1-4 pitching in New York and Burnett seems only to not be injured and pitch well in contract years. I hope the Yankees don't get Teixera and have to settle on Manny. He could literally destroy that team from the inside out I mean if he didn't like the spotlight in Boston how is New York going to treat him...

4. In the past I favored the "Bailout" but now I think that Congress is doing the right thing by not jumping in to save the auto industry. By giving the Big Three money now will only keep them on the same path that they currently are following. By being forced to file for bankruptcy the auto makers will be allowed to renegotiate with all of their purveyors and their work force as well. It is obvious that the UAW has a stranglehold on the Big Three, but their management practices have also been terrible. Try building cars that people want to buy! The relative difference between what the Japanese auto makers pay their workforce is only about $850 per car! Well that is not the reason we are not selling American auto's. We need to be more competitive across the board with new concepts and innovative thinking. Not the same old dame old which is exactly what we are going to get if lawmakers decide to appropriate funds to the tune of 14 billion dollars. And if George Bush decides that all of Capitol Hill is wrong and decides to have the White House step in and bail out Detroit he will cement his presidency as the worst of all time.

5. I think that the job done by Matt Cassel this year and the rest of the Patriots is nothing short of amazing. I do however have to give most of the credit to Belichick and his systems. Sure Matt Cassel is probably going to make alot of money out in free agency next year or he's going to make a lot if the Pats franchise him, either way he should thank Belichick. And do the Pats have anyone left on the defense who isn't injured...

6. Talk about a steal by Theo Epstein of signing Dustin Pedroia for the next six years at those numbers. Great general manager and also a good deal for the player who now has financial security for the rest of his life. There's something to be said for that. Still great signing!!!

7. I couldn't have been happier to see the "Juice" sent off to prison. Talk about a sense of entitlement and complete recklessness. Yeah O.J. when you bring a gun to a hotel room and tell the people there they can't leave until they give you what you want is called ARMED ROBBERY AND KIDNAPPING. So take your fake tears and enjoy the next nine years of your life in JAIL!!!

8. Its about ready to explode down in "Big D" as T.O. and Romo and Whitten are about ready to have a race war over whose getting the ball too much or too little. Hard to say you didn't see this one coming. I think it might be time for a new coach, one that doesn't coddle all his players and can control the ones that need to be controlled. However that being said you will never get another great coach as long as Jerry Jones patrols the sidelines during the games and calls out his players when he thinks they aren't injured. Jerry I suggest you put on some pads and get out there yourself if not keep your mouth shut...

9. I think these actors and actresses that are considering going on strike for more money should take a look at what's going on in the economy before they make any monumental decisions. I'm hearing that the networks are cutting back some of there programming because corporate America can't afford the ad rates. We are probably in for more reality TV and prime time game shows which cost dramatically less to produce than shows. Pay attention people were in a recession and you are a luxury.

10. I hope all have a safe and wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year!!!

Osterville Real Estate Luxury Waterfront Homes Cape Cod MA Top Ten

It's time for this week's Top Ten...

1. I'll start off with the election of a new president. I will not get into everyone's personal voting but I am more interested in the amazing circumstances surrounding it. I think we forget that it is an awesome and up until the last 25 years fairly rare moment to see a peaceful passing of power. Can you imagine years ago a leader such as King George III, Napoleon, Hitler, or Stalin, willfully to give up being the leader of their country just because the people voted him out or because he couldn't run for another term. I think not yet every four years we have this capability and have been the blueprint for other countries worldwide to follow. I know the real transfer of power doesn't happen until inauguration but it still is impressive.

2. I am a little confused with this early voting capability that states are offering. I understand the idea behind absentee ballots but I thought election day was November 4th. Isn't this for a reason? Thoughts?

3. I can't tell everyone how disgusted I am with the idea of Manny Ramirez getting the kind of money he's going to and probably from the Yankees!!! The guy is a thug and should be treated as such.

4. I was sad to see the death of Michael Creighton. He was a great writer who was an even better storyteller. I also understand he had some opposite theories on global warming that made him a pariah in Hollywood at the end. While I might not agree with him regarding global warming I applaud him researching the data and having his own voice.

5. If people are not watching the show House they are missing a great show. Hugh Lorie hits it out of the park as a brilliant and miserable cripple who cares only for the truth and has no problem lying to get it. Worth watching. I am also excited for the two hour 24 event coming up in November, I believe the 23, but could be wrong, TV needs you back Jack Bauer....

6. Who really cares what kind of dog Obama gets for his daughters in the White House. I have a feeling whatever they get will be brunt of jokes, like the ones that have come out about Obama since his election. Some funny stuff!

7. I happened to see an interesting story on the resurgence of the Erie Canal. For those of you that don't know, the Erie Canal connects the Great Lakes with the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean. It over the last century and a half has slowly fallen into obscurity as a result of the train and highway networks that crisscross the country. Now though with the price of transporting goods skyrocketing it has become cheaper to use the canal to ship some goods. Last year doubled the output of the previous years and they are expecting exponential gains this year with some plants considering relocating near the canal but there is nowhere to go but up in these statistics. Still though it's nice to see a piece of Americana still working.

8. This Saturday there is a big game in college football when #1 Alabama faces off against SEC foes LSU. This will mark the return of Nick Saban to LSU. I'm sure emotions will be riding high in this game!!! All I can say is Roll Tide Roll!

9. I seems likely that the government will be getting into the car business after reports that Ford is going through cash extremely fast. If considering that the government represents the people does that make Americans simply used car salesmen???

10. I will be very interested to see how many people George Bush pardons at the end of his presidency. I have a feeling that Karl Rove will be getting a blanket pardon to cover god knows how many laws he broke!

Have a great week!!!

Happy Halloween to all! This weeks Top Ten....

1. Congrats to the Philadelphia Phillies on a great season and a World Championship! Overall I thought the series was lackluster and certainly a TV ratings bomb, however I did like the three and a half inning finale! As a footnote the Tampa Bay Rays also had a season they should be proud of and looking at that team it appears they will be in the mix for years to come.

2. Well as this election draws near I think if I see another political ad I'll put my foot through the TV. Then to add insult to injury Obama takes out a thirty minute feel good infomercial at prime time. I think he has to many contributors if he can buy an 8-8:30 time slot on three major stations. I won't get into who I feel should win or lose now I just want it over, sad considering it is an extremely important election, kind of like all of those commercials before Christmas!

3. Did anyone pick the Tennessee Titans to be undefeated at this point in the season....

4. We have now come to the end of probably the most volatile month on Wall Street in a century. I hope all of you out there were protected and didn't lose to much. Unfortunately my personal belief is we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Major companies seem to be unilaterally laying off, the GNP has dropped .03% in the third quarter, and though it is beginning to thaw the credit markets have tightened their collective belts so tightly that it will be years before we wade through this disaster! Good luck to all!

5. I read a report earlier this year that more Americans had died in Chicago than in Iraq up to this point in the year (I think it was through September 15th) I'm not sure if it was true or not but if so maybe we should get out of Chicago!!! On a more serious note as we come into the holiday season remember the soldiers that are fighting and dying for our way of life half way around the world in Iraq and Afghanistan, whether you think they should be there or not.

6. I look at some of the halloween costumes out there today and only shake my head. When I was a kid I might of had a light saber or a sheet with eye slits cut out but the costume wasn't as important as the size of your goodie bag...

7. I think the Cleveland Cavaliers should be ashamed of themselves for going back to the locker room instead of watching the Celtics raise their 17th banner and their ring ceremony. There have been plenty of years where the Red Sox had enough class to sit in the dugout and watch the Yankees get their rings and visa-versa (recently anyway). Cleveland you shouldn't let Lebron dictate the level of class on your team because he doesn't want to watch another team celebrate. That's easy to fix Lebron, win yourself!

8. Interesting story about State Sen. Dianne Wilkerson who was allegedly (Ok kevin?) caught taking bribes. I guess her bra size is a 23G.

9. Has anyone seen in good movies lately??? I know that I haven't, if you have please send them along (No adult titles Scott tell me those privately)

10. Has anyone been as amazed as I am with the new prosthetics that are available to our returning soldiers. I was watching a show on discovery that featured injured soldiers at Walter Reed that were being fitted with new limbs and was so happy to see the pride on the faces of these young men and women who now coan do everything you and I can without help. And I was watching the news last night were they said they are already experimenting with growng artificial human lungs in the lab. Maybe I won't quit smoking just yet, the SNL Lung Brush is finally hitting the market....

Have a great week!

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA Red Sox Update

Loyal Sox Fans,

Today is the most unfortunate day of the season. The Tampa Bay Rays defeated our home town Boston Red Sox last night in game 7 of the ALCS to end our season. The natural tendency today is to hang our heads in sorrow, to be stuck in a perpetual state of disbelief, and share with others our disappointment. However I think all of us can agree that the Sox this year gave us another great ride! The home town nine fought through serious injuries and adversity the past 6 months to still entertain us with good sound baseball. I think it is only natural at this time of year when the unthinkable happens, and we are done for the season, to look longingly toward the future and start to evaluate next years club. I must say the future looks promising. It seems Theo and his group will have plenty of money to spend on free agents and the pipeline of young talent already in the system is strong. Just take a minute to think about the fact that the Sox no linger have to pay Manny 20 million and Curt Schilling around 10 million. That should help us fill some possible holes! It will be interesting to see what the Sox end up doing with Jason Varitek, after all the loyalty and all of the intangibles he has I think his anemic batting average will probably show him the door. So on such a sad day spend some time looking forward to next years possibilities and remember THE YANKEES DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AND BASICALLY WHERE OUT OF CONTENTION ALL YEAR!!! If that doesn't bring a smile to your face today nothing will.

Go Sox in 2009

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA Top Ten

This weeks top ten.....

1. The dow lost 1800 points last week and gained back have of that on Monday. i know that the institutions were closed that day so it was primarily private buyers grabbing great deals. Yesterday the markets dropped overall with tech stocks pulling down the market. Today we are seeing the same kind of large triple digit losses that we saw last week and are back in the 8's at the moment. I had hoped we were nearing the bottom but now I just don't know....

2. The Sox are in serious trouble against the young upstart Rays. It doesn't help that in the first 3 games Ortiz, Varitek, Ellsbury, and Lowry were hitting a combined 0 for 40. Last night Wakefield made them look like they were hitting off a tee in the 2 and 2/3s innings he pitched. Again down 3 games to 1.

3. McCain is fading away in the polls and the minds of Americans. I wonder if now he regrets the sideshow of Sarah Palin.

4. I think this woman in Florida who presumedly killed her her daughter, Casey Anthony, should be taken out and shot! I find her total lack of emotion and some of her unabashed lingerie shopping sprees, while claiming to be out looking for her daughter, completely in the realm of a sociopath.

5. This past week the Cape, particularly Sesuit harbor, was visited by a manatee. Dennis, as they named him was in Cape Cod waters for more than a week, the farthest north a manatee had ever been reported. Unfortunately when they tried to transport him to Sea World Orlando he died. A sad ending to a cool story!

6. Real Estate seems to have come to a stop while everyone waits to see how the "Rescue Plan" is going to play out. Just what we needed....

7. Tony Romo and the "Boys" are in trouble. Romo out for a four week stint with a broken pinkie finger, Felix Jones is out iindefinitely with a torn hamstring, Matt McBriar out with a broken foot, and best of all the experiment with Adam "Pacman" Jones seems to be over since he has been suspended for a minimum of four weeks for violations of the probation Roger Goddell set forward. Storm clouds are brewing in Texas!!!

8. Get out your winter clothes because here in the North East its coming. However I do think its way to early for stores to be talking about Christmas!

9. California is again suffering from wild fires that have displaced thousands. Did anyone see the wind conditions yesterday. How do you fight fires when the wind is blowing over 40 knots and the fire is traveling faster than some cars? I wish them luck fortunately or unfortunately they've fought this battle before and have a few tricks.

10. How exciting was it that a Blue Whale was sighted just off of Nantucket. Typically the Blue Whale is rarely seen and definitely not in New England waters so it was truly an exceptional moment. There were some old time Nantucket locals that I'm sure were thinking of a Nantucket Sleigh Ride!

Enjoy the week and SELL SELL SELL

Well here we go again! It seems like the Red Sox are not playing their best unless they are way down in the ALCS. In years past I have had a strong sense that the Sox could beat any team in the league. I still feel this way, but this year I think there luck may run out. The Tampa Bay Rays have the feeling of a team of destiny similiar to the 69 Miracle Mets. These young kids on the Rays aren't intimidated by anything. Every time I thought they would fail they didn't. I was at the game on Monday and my neck still hurts from watching homer after homer off the bats of the Rays. On the grand stage of the ALCS and at Fenway the Rays were undeterred. The Sox are left with another long uphill battle on their hands which I don't see them winning, but we still hold out hope here in Red Sox Nation.

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA World Market

As I sit here and contemplate my financial future and watch the stock market continue to fall (down 746.61 at the time of writing this) I can only think of a comment made on 60 MINUTES by an economist who said, "Bernacke and Greenspan have done a great job containing this economic situation to planet Earth." Today after checking the markets world wide and seeing the same sell off everywhere, I at 8am I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen today! I understand that the European markets have already started implementing there own versions of our "bailout" and almost all are Federally insuring individuals bank accounts up to certain amounts. As the credit crunch increases and prices of most stocks and commodities continues to fall (except for gold which is going through the roof), OPEC is now considering reducing oil production to stabilize its market. Typically I would understand this move but I was really hoping for a decrease in oil prices, which would have helped many Americans in the coming winter and now by allowing gas prices to continue to fall. However, it is a dog eat dog world out there and I shouldn't be surprised by this move. I understand the Fed is brokering the Wachovia deal between CitiGroup and Wells Fargo which probably means nothing will get done as the Fed wants the two companies to split up Wachovia, doubtful, but maybe I'm wrong. It certainly is a tumultuous time and I have been saddened to watch the dramatic effects on peoples 401Ks and I hope everyone understands the ramifications of these tremendous losses particularly on our older generations. Many who had or were near the age of retirement no longer will be able to afford to do so. I think of my own parents hope they get the chance to enjoy their golden years like their parents before them, but recently I am beginning to wonder. I can only imagine how they feel! Good luck out there and remember if you invest wisely and don't over extend your means you'll survive!

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA Top Ten

This weeks Top Ten things I think,

1. I think whoever labeled the term "The Bailout" killed any chances of it being past. I also think the name killed any chance of Main St. America understand what really is happening and how close we are to economic collapse. Instead of "Bailing Out" Wall Street and actually protecting America's banks and economy, I am sure they would care about that. Din't cut off your nose to spite your face!

2. Great job of pitching by Jon Lester in the opener between the Sox and Angels. Lackey deserved better but we'll take it.

3. Manny Ramirez is absolutely on fire at the dish, but I would rather have a player on my team who has integrity and class and knows how the game was meant to be played, aka Jason Bay. Huge home run in his first playoff game ever!

4. I think if I had to work on the floor of the stock market I would bring alot of rolaids with me each morning. It must be difficult to tell your clients that their net worth dropped more than 10 percent in one day.

5. What are the Cubs doing? Errors by all of their infielders in one game. Talk about working all year for one goal and playing two of the worst games all season in a 3 out of 5 series. Disgraceful, Lou Pinella must be pulling out his hair.

6. Sara Palin has had a tough week and deserved it. Katie Couric absolutely dismantled her face to face and then Saturday Night Live mopped the floor with whatever was left. It was so bad Biden couldn't even attack her for fear it would look as if he lacked any compassion. Which gave us a rather dull debate. John McCain what were you thinking!

7. I find it fascinating that they found ice on Mars. I'm still amazed we can build a robot, fly it to Mars, land where we want, and have it send back real time images and commands. Exciting times!

8. Matt Cassel should consider throwing a few footballs Randy Moss's way this Sunday considering it only has to be near him for him to catch it.

9. How dissappointed must all of those physicists be when they turned on the Large Hadron Collider and found it was broken. Now they say it will take until Spring to get it working again. It will take months to warm the collider up from absolute zero just so they can try to go in and fix the problem.

10. It only took George Bush 8 years to destory our economy. Talk about not tearing down Rome in a day!

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA Federal Buyout

I am very interested to see what everyone in the activerain community feels about this prospective Federal Buyout. I understand that there may not be enough information out there to make a truly educated decision as it seems Congress keeps reshaping the proposed legislation. Perhaps if we can comment on the overall idea of the government buying all of the toxic debt off the hands of banks large and small. I think this could make for an interesting discussion. To throw my hat into the ring, I feel that though it is not the responsibility of the American taxpayers to bail out businesses that are failing due to poor decisions, it is the responsibility of Government (officials elected by the taxpayers) to step in and protect the overall greater good. By this I mean that if the government believes that the economy is on the brink of collapse, it show do what it must to save the country from a major crisis. Let me know what you think....

The Red Sox have clinched another post season berth! All the more exciting that they were able to continue their great play and join seven other teams in the playoffs while the Yankees streak of post seasons ends. It appears the Sox will have to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who have the best record in baseball and will be a daunting task to defeat. However, never fear the Sox definitely have the Halos number in the post season beating them last year on the way to the title. I think it is now safe to root for a Sox-Cubs series! No matter who we end up playing its just nice to know that you can still get a Fenway Frank and you can't get a Yankee Dog this October!

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA Top Ten

This weeks top ten....

1. My prayers go out to the victims of Hurricane Ike. What a powerful storm that brought absolute destruction to South East Texas and beyond. Galveston and its outlying communities seem to have been hardest hit with neighborhoods simply wiped off the map.

2. It has been quite a week as far as the stick market goes. I think by this time next week it will fall below 10,000 though I really hope not.

3. The race for the AL East is a hot one. As of now the Rays hold the slimmest of leads. It will be interesting to see if they can hold off the more experienced Red Sox.

4. I guess the real estate market still hasn't hit bottom, but mortgage rates are probably as low as they are going to get with inflation rising. Tell your buyers what they save by waiting for the bottom they will lose in the amount they pay for thier money.

5. You would think with the amount of babies being born in China that they would make sure the formula is safe. SHAMEFUL!!!

6. I think its going to be an exciting NFL season. What a game on Monday night.

7. Pretty soon the US government is going to own all of the big mortgage companies.

8. The Sarah Palin phenomenon reminds me of the days of Jackie O.

9. Personnally I think septic companies have us by the short and curlys.

10. Sadly we say goodbye to one of our real estate agents. We wish her the best!

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod MA 9/11/2001 Remembered

As I take a few minutes to reflect on another anniversary of September 11, 2001 I am troubled by the short memories Americans seem to have. I can recall the outpouring of national pride that we as a country showed ourselves and the world after 9/11. Every street was adorned with American Flags, high atop flag poles or on a wooden stick stuck into the front lawn. My street, I think like most in America, was a sea of red, white, and blue flags waving our pride in the wind. The way the country pulled together reminded me of the sense of National Pride that my grandparents generation must have felt as it embarked to fight a world war. Now it seems as if no one remembers what happened a few short years ago. I know most certainly remember, they are just to busy to do anything about their memories. This anniversary seems like a day that the country should remind itself not only that we are vulnerable to attacks on our way of life but also to celebrate the country we are fortunate enough to live in. Everytime I look at "Old Glory" emotions deep within bubble to the surface reminding me of all the men and women who have died to keep their generation and the next ones free. I always find it simply amazing when Americans burn their own flag, I guess exercising their Constitutional Rights, to make a dramatic point at one protest or another. I have to wonder if they realize how they insult the memories of all who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and the very flag, they insist on burning. It seems to me that the American Flag represents different things to different people and though individuals might not agree with the politics of the day they should still respect the flag enough to stand when its being raised or lowered, stand when The Star Spangled Banner is playing, make sure it never touches the ground, take the time to fold it properly, and above all else remember those who died for it. On September 11, 2008 I just don't see what I saw in the days and weeks following September 11, 2001, the pride and togetherness. It saddens me deeply.

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod Quote of the Week

This weeks quote.....

If wishes were horses...... beggars would ride.....

What this simply means is that if you sit around dreaming good things will happen to you and all you do is dream, nothing positive will ever happen. You must go out there and apply yourself. Life is about honesty, integrity, compassion, and risk. If you never put yourself in vulnerable situations you will never face risk in your life. Sure it's risky and frightening to leave yourself exposed to financial, personal, or even physical risk but to grow as a human being you must! Otherwise you will go through on the periphery of life never actually involved. The same holds true in the business world! So work hard, apply yourself, and get in the game! Sometimes the only thing your risking is time!

Have a great week and SELL SELL SELL!

Osterville Real Estate Cape Cod Red Sox Update

I must say last nights game against the Red Sox and the Rays was truely exciting. I am of course very dissappointed that the Sox fell short but I still had a great time watching! The game had it all, from great starting pitching, Dice-K and Kasmir, to defense and finally long balls. Jonathen Papelbon ended up blowing his first save since June 22 which unfortunately happens from time to time. I was a little surprised by pitch selection Jason Varitek chose. Pap first 16 of 17 pitches to start the nineth were fastballs. These are major league hitters who can if they know its coming sit on anyones fastball. Mix in some sliders or even splitters just to keep the hitters honest. Anyway the Rays just weren't quite ready to relinquish the lead in the American League East. Lets see what happens tonight!
