Pickens Animal Rescue will hold its fourth annual Hound Dog Golf Tournament at the Bent Tree Golf Club in Jasper, Georgia, on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, starting at 9:00 am. Funds raised through this event go to help support the vital efforts of Pickens Animal Rescue in working with abandoned and abused animals in Pickens County.
As always, volunteers, sponsors and donors are needed for the tournament (and on ongoing basis throughout the year), to help this much-needed organization stay on top of the many tasks they have to accomplish, and ensure that they meet their basic financial needs. The community of Bent Tree in Jasper, Georgia, has been fortunate to escape an abundance of foreclosures on the market over the past couple of years. Tax lien sales have been a far more frequent issue (and a means of obtaining Bent Tree property for below market value) than distress sales . . . usually on building or membership lots for which owners no longer wantedto pay HOA fees and taxes. We have to go back to 2005 to find any REO listing sales. Those three however, presented quite a bargain on Bent Tree homes for some lucky buyers. Sales of lots and land in the Jasper Georgia community of Bent Tree mirror the overall broader trend in real estate sales in many places -- showing a 30% decline over lot sales from the same period in the previous year (2006), but which is still better than Bent Tree land sales the year before that (2005).
Average lot sale price is up notably over prior year, but again, actually approaching closer to 2005 numbers. Average days on market (DOM) has remained fairly consistent throughout all time frames (ranging from 135 - 140 DOM).

There's not much to say about the gated mountain neighborhood of Bent Tree, Georgia, not already covered in greater detail on the neighborhood's own "Bent Tree website" and other web resources, except to reflect on the fact that Bent Tree isn't talked about more than it is! Nestled in the Appalachian Foothills that form a scenic backdrop to the small community of Jasper, GA, it is a pleasant mix of old and new, resort and community.
The basic features are readily reported on a number of real estate sites:
