On December 4, 2010, the city of Jasper, Georgia, will host their annual Night of Lights Christmas Celebration. The celebration includes a parade, kids area, craft and food vendors, and the lighting of the Christmas Tree on the courthouse lawn. The Night of Lights Christmas Celebration has plenty for kids to do in the afternoon, with activities like decorating ornaments, face painting, games, an inflatable jumping house, and of course, Santa will be there, paying a visit. Santa (and Mrs. Clause) will be available for picture taking from 3 to 5 pm, and carolers and characters will be walking around.

It looks like this year in Jasper and Pickens County, Georgia, the opportunity for the kids to get out and do some trick-or-treating will extend over a three-day period . . . On Friday afternoon portions of Main Street will be closed off and local merchants will be giving out candy and treats to trick-or-treaters between 4 pm and 6 pm. It's that time again. Time for the annual Georgia Marble Festival in Pickens County GA, October 2-3, 2010. The festivities kick off with a 5K road race at 8 a.m, followed by the 1-mile at 9 a.m. Then of course we have the Marble Festival parade starting at 10 on Main Street. The rest of the weekend is filled with arts, crafts, music, food, activities and more . . . Pickens Animal Rescue will hold its fourth annual Hound Dog Golf Tournament at the Bent Tree Golf Club in Jasper, Georgia, on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, starting at 9:00 am. Funds raised through this event go to help support the vital efforts of Pickens Animal Rescue in working with abandoned and abused animals in Pickens County. As always, volunteers, sponsors and donors are needed for the tournament (and on ongoing basis throughout the year), to help this much-needed organization stay on top of the many tasks they have to accomplish, and ensure that they meet their basic financial needs.
