We are closing out the old year on another two-day high in the 60s.  I played three sets of doubles tennis yesterday afternoon ... after about a 3-month layoff.  Didn't do too bad either.  And it is just as warm today.

The Bonus Days Between Christmas and New Year's Day from Ocean City, New Jersey

You've had some wonderful days with family and friends from about December 24th through the 26th ... and you are looking forward to bringing in the New Year somewhere again with friends on December 31st and January 1st.  But you now find yourself with at least 4 or 5 days when business may be a bit slow, with the agency offices closed for some of the time, and with thoughts about the new year 2012.

Christmas Eve Eve Day ... from Ocean City, New Jersey

Well, the barrier island is getting a few more holiday visitors coming down to the Jersey Shore for Christmas.  We often get some long weekend rentals during this period of time, relatives returning for the visits with parents and friends, and the second home owners who decide to celebrate the holidays here on the island.  Even with all of that, it is not really crowded in terms like the summer rental season. 
Bridge work continues which does cause some backups at both end of Route #52 from Ocean City … (1 comments)

One just manages to gain a little time on our tiny barrier island here in Ocean City, NJ during this festive time of the year.  Between wrapping up a real surprise sale contract that will close in mid-January (a surprise at this time of year here in our resort community) and working on my 2012 "life plan" (,after reading Paula Hathaway's excellent blog post), I managed to finish a wonderful book by Walter Isaacson ... My Holiday Newsletter Went Out ... and that's the signal for the close of my year ... from Ocean City, NJ
 
I do a weekly (every Friday) online newsletter sent out under my heading - BEACH NOTES to all of my broad "client category" which includes Owners, Buyers, and Others ... a list that keep getting larger.  That goes out about 40 plus weeks per year (one year when I had no social life at all, it went out 50 out of 52 weeks).  A second monthly online newsletter goes out 12 times per year to my rental tenants.

Putting One Under Contract in December at the Jersey Shore ... in Ocean City, New Jersey
 
As most everyone knows, things slow down here on our quiet one-town barrier island called Ocean City, New Jersey.  We're now fairly quiet although we will get a bit of activity from December 25th through New Year's Day with some long weekend tenants, returning family members, and our big "First Night" Celebration. 
But it is still below 10,000 population now and heading further south in the cold months of January and February.  As people drift off to Florida and other parts much warmer, … (0 comments)

It's Nearing the Close of the Calendar Year ... Always an Interesting & Exciting Time ... here in Ocean City, NJ
 
It's not been my best real estate year ... a lot of ups and downs, numerous lost opportunities, some just simply bad breaks.  I came off a great 2010 real estate year, but a very challenging personal illness year.  I started to team up with a partner in September, 2010.  Back to 2011, it's been a great personal health year with a final report from my heart doctor that I don't need to see her for about one year.  … (1 comments)

Triple Play Ends in Atlantic City (NJ) Today ... from Ocean City, New Jersey
 
The Tuesday through Thursday three-state pre-winter/pre-holiday Realtor convention brings agents from Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey to a nice and quiet mid-week location in Atlantic City (NJ).  What started out as a New Jersey-only convention for many many years has now grown into one of the major locations to hear national speakers across the country.  Although I don't know this answer, I doubt that there is a larger gathering except for the national convention.
