How the DVC point system works:A Disney Vacation Club ownership is a real estate interest represented by "vacation points". A customer purchases a number of vacation points as a one-time purchase, becoming a "member" of the "club". Please see our active listings for prices and availability at all DVC properties. After the initial purchase, members are charged annual dues based on the number of vacation points they own. There are no additional annual charges. Thought I would put in my two cents worth on this discussion about home base. Because most folks trade around to all the resorts to diversify their vacation experience, the only time it becomes an issue of wanting a particular resort over another would be if the motif or "style" of one resort suits your life style so much better than the others that you would actually be extremely disappointed … (0 comments)

Gas prices are high, airlines are cutting flights, and these days you can't always check even a single suitcase at the airport without paying a fee. "Staycations" are apparently gaining in popularity, as evidenced not only by the coinage of the phrase, but also by local economic indicators. Can you give me more info on the differences between a dvc resale and buying direct from disney? Disney is only selling Saratoga Springs to first time buyers and they require your initial purchase to be 150 points or more. On the resale market, you can find an ownership that best fits your needs (particular "home" resort or the size of contract that suites your vacationing habits). Saratoga's base price, if purchased directly from Disney, is $102 a point.
