The recent floods in Georgia took us all by surprise, and unfortunately, I was among the thousands who experienced flooding.  Most of the time I look forward to coming home after a long day to a nice glass of wine.  Not this time.  The shock of seeing 2 1/2 feet of water enter my basement with a force that broke the door down and scattered furniture around the room left me standing there in disbelief.  It looked like a tornado had lifted everything up and dumped items in random places throughout the rooms.  The sludge and the stench was disgusting.

I had no idea where to begin, but friends suggested places to call and I soon discovered that it would be 4 or 5 days before they could get to my house.  I sent a quick email to a home builder to see if he could give me guidance, and he did much more than that.  Hearing the panic in my voice he pulled a crew and sent them to my house early the next morning.  They cleared everything out, ripped up the carpet and padding, cut the walls out up to the window sills, pulled out insulation, placed 5 industrial strength fans and 2 dehumidifiers in various spots.  They came by every day for an entire week to reposition fans and empty garbage cans full of water.  JACOBS REMODELING responded quickly and professionally the 1st time, and the 2nd time when I called to say I had no hot water.

My neighbor picked a name out of the phone book; something I never do.  In a time of crisis, scams increase.  My contractor explained the reasons for hiring a state licensed and insured company.

One of the biggest frustrations I have noticed comes with marketing land.  Traditional listing services are designed to enter "house information" and doesn't lend itself to the criteria buyers of land need to see.  Buyers are frustrated because agents aren't sending properties that meet their exact specifications, but rather tend to send properties "in the right area".  As a company that is targeted strictly to the sale & marketing of raw land, lots, and commercial properties - we also have created non-traditional approaching to marketing properties.  A land only advertising site, support services to agents, and strategic marketing to our database of thousands of categorized builders & developers.  We'd love to hear from those who focus their energy in this area!  Debbie
