Spring Makes My Heart Sing and the Spirits Soar
We just made the change of times to leap forward, which is the hint that our hibernation from winter is about to end. This year has been tough and it’s lingering as well. March comes in like a lion but goes out like a lamb is the expression and this year we are living it.
The advent of the warmer weather brings a cacophony of sounds and a promise of a burst of colors. We’ll suffer through the muck and the street sand and even the brown of the

They're Here, They're Here, It Must be Spring in Prospect CT!!
As I was coming back from working with clients late yesterday afternoon, a glimpse of color caught my eyes as I stopped at a stop sign. It seemed so out of place along side the roadway, must be someone's litter. As I got out a bit further, the origin of the color became more apparent. It was roadside for sure, but the droppings were left by Mother Nature.
On a lonely stretch of road, amid the dead leaves, and the road debris from winter as burst

This morning was the official Kick-Off Breakfast for the Golf Season at Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT.
The entrance to the park was brightly shining even though the weather was overcast and drizzly rain. Must be an omen of a grand season at Crestbrook Park, and the good times the golfers will enjoy this year.

Sunday Photos . . It's Spring and the little ones are starting to move about
As I made the drive into Crestbrook Park this morning in a misty, drizzly fog, this Canadian geese couple were watching the little ones. They've been moving around for a couple of weeks now, and getting strong and bigger by the day.
It didn't matter to them that it had rained all night, and was raining when I took this photo.
We get at least one set of geese hatch-lings a year at the course, which is surprising as there are always many geese about.

It's a Small Sign, But it's Officially Spring
To a first observation, it's a front yard. The daffodils have sprouted, the flox is starting to flower, and the first signs of leaves are starting to emerge.
No For Sale, sign, just a photo, but to me it's been long overdue.
See, the last time I had this part of the yard online, it looked like this, with almost 18" of snow cover on the ground.
So yesterday, I mowed the yard for the first time this year. As it was recently fertilized, and it's warm and rainy now, I

What can be more beautiful that this?
At first glance, it looks like a giant child armed with a box of crayons has been set loose upon the landscape. Vivid stripes of purple, yellow, red, pink, orange and green make up A glorious patchwork. Yet far from being a child's sketchbook, this is, in fact, the northern Netherlands in the middle of tulip season.
The Dutch landscape in May is a kaleidoscope of color as the tulips burst into life. The bulbs are planted in late October and early November. More than

Crestbrook Park Golf Course, Watertown CT is Open for the Season
I got the official announcement in an email and I was elated, the season is upon us, finally. Of course that was on Wednesday of this week.
Then the weatherman forecast a 'Noreaster' for Thursday evening with Litchfield County projected to get the worst at possibly 8" of snow. And sure enough Crestbrook Park is in lower Litchfield County in Watertown CT.
Well, Mother Nature had something to say about that. The flags are in, the course is officially open, but not today because winter just couldn't let it

The flowers are so confused, it's supposed to be Spring!
The flowers in the yard are in a bit of a shock. Last Saturday they were enjoying 70 degree weather, and then there was the threat of as much as 6" of snow. We got just a 1" dusting, but that didn't help the yard flowers to feel any better.
Nor did I, today was supposed to be the opening day at the golf course, and we were set to go, even allowing some time for some lost productivity this afternoon.
I couldn't even bear to take a drive

We've had record snowfalls. Officially we've had over 60" of snow so far in January, which is usually about our total for the winter. Groundhog Day is Wed, Feb 2, and there won't be a problem with the ground hog seeing his shadow, as right about now there's little chance of him even getting out of the hole.
Right about now that warm beach anywhere along the Caribbeanwould be welcome. Not to mention what it's doing to the business that

The Tulips want to Show Their Stuff
It won't be very long before the tulips spring out of the ground and give us their warmth and color. The azaleas and laurel will be there right behind them.
The colors of spring are almost here and all the warmth and good feelings that go along with that after a winter of snow, ice and cold.
Yes, it won't be long now, and we'll see the flowers.
At least that's what I need to keep telling myself
spring: April Showers Bring May Flowers . . Yes They Do!
- 05/18/10 10:01 AM
As I came in for Lunch yesterday I was greeted by the onset of a row of colors along my driveway. The spring colors of the iris and day lilies are starting to show themselves.
I have had many of the neighbors come by and walk away with some of these for their own gardens. They grow so quickly. There are several colors of Day Lillie's that are starting to show their sprouts. There is still a but of fragrance in the beds left over from the Liliesof the Valley. Along side the garage are the bright reds
spring: The Blossoms are coming, Finally
- 04/07/10 09:05 AM
We had a particularly difficult winter with the cold and snow. For some reason the flowers and shrubs in our yard have been a little slow in coming out. Yesterday as I started to do some cleanup, I had an opportunity to really see the yard, and I was really pleased to see the earth starting to wake up.
The dogwood at the top of the driveway is starting it's blossoms, which means the birds especially the hummingbirds will be around, but you need to look quickly to find them.
Also, the pachysandra at the base of my trees are

No leaves on the trees, the grass is barely green but people were out to enjoy Laurel View Country Club in Hamden, Ct. It was a great morning for a walk and I only messed it up a bit with some very rusty swings of my golf clubs. I was a much longer winter than I thought, and for the way it felt this morning it could be a long time before the game is back to where I want it to be. I am reluctant to accept the adage, "Things just aren't the way they used to be".

This post about birds mating and spring in the air is a great prelude to a post I am putting up about birds and their annual spring rites.

Spring has sprung (almost), the grass is ris, wonder where the birdies is...Well, here is two of them.
We see Red Tail Hawks all the time, but never two together. We guess this must be a true sign of Spring not to far off in the future. We were some distance from them and only
