Now that's a term if ever there was one.
First time I ever heard it was when we moved (in 19710) into a community just outside the "beltway" of Washington, DC named Lake Braddock.  It was the first exposure we had to the area and after overcoming "sticker shock" we settled in.

Last week the "Oldest Fair in the Nation" opened in Historic Fredericksburg Virginia.  Whether or not it is as old as billed could probably be argued but "America's Most Historic City" is laying claim to the title.
