Woodburns is about 60 years old. They just updated the store to include Glueten free products. I like this because last year I found out I am alergic to wheat. It is so nice to be able to go to a local store to get items instead of ordering online. If something is not there all's I do is ask Joe who is in charge of the inventory there to order it for me.

Financing a Second Home Update - 02/25/09 01:21 PM
Today I interviewed Ray Gagner with C&F Mortgage to get an update on what is going on with home loans. He is the lender I use whenever I purchase a home. He said now 20% down is required for second home loans unless you go through a credit union they may have a different program.
Ray says rates keep climbing. He sid they increased 1/2 point since yesterday. He had just locked some loans in before Bernanke's speech ended today. He expected the rates to go up again after it was over. They froze the lenders from locking just before the end.

Oyster Bay Condos in Solomons are a Good Choice for a Vacation Home. - 02/24/09 03:35 PM
In the Solomons area there are two large condo developments: Oyster Bay and Solomons Landing. Oyster Bay is located in Dowell which is the town next to Solomons. They are still building and offering great prices. The builder, Marrick Homes is one of my favorites. You get a free boat slip on Back Creek when you purchase a condo. Condos are great because if you are only spending weekends in your vacation home you can just show up. No mowing lawns and other duties required with a house. Looking for Coastal Interior Design try Shore Living Gift Shop in Dunkirk - 02/23/09 12:01 PM
I live in a cottage overlooking the bay so I love to decorate with the coastal theme. I was excited when Shore Living gift shop moved to Dunkirk last year. They have table linens, lamps and more. Chesapeake's Bounty Moving to St Leonard - 02/19/09 04:21 PM
For those that don't know Chesapeake's Bounty was in prince Frederick. They have live crabs when they are in season. They sell plants from Spring-Fall. I have bought a few tropical plants from them before. In the winter they sell Christmas trees and firewood.
The new location is at the intersection of 4 and St Leonard Road. It will be great for me since I live in Saint Leonard and I love buying fresh crabs. I also go to the nursery to buy plants often since that is one of my hobbies. Saint Leonard Creek in Calvert County - 02/16/09 02:41 PM

Saint Leonard Creek is my favorite creek in Calvert County. It is located off the Patuxent River and has sail boat depth water in places. The creek is located in Lusby and Saint Leonard. Businesses include Vera's Restaurant with a beach and there is also a marina pictured in this photo. There are 3 homes for sale on the creek. Prices range from $550,000-$4,600,000.

Cuckold Creek In Hollywood - 02/16/09 02:02 PM
Cuckold Creek in Hollywood, Maryland is my favorite creek in Saint Marys County. It is large enough where people water ski. It has very deep water in some parts, perfect for a sail boat. This photo was taken at Clarks Landing Resaurant. There are a few  marinas on the creek as well. Currently there are 4 water front homes for sale on the creek ranging from $325,000 - 679,000.

I know there is more snow to come before spring but the last few days have been great weather here. Yesterday it was in the 70's today in the 60's. The bulbs are popping up all over but no flowers yet. I have seen a few flocks of migrating birds in the tree tops. I gtow indoor spring bulbs all over the house. Below are my tulips.

Where Vacation Home Buyers Purchase in Calvert County - 02/10/09 01:56 PM
I thought it would be interesting to see where people purchasing vacation homes actually buy in Calvert County. Chesapeake Beach/North Beach is the top area and Lusby rates number 2. I find it interesting because few people outside the area have heard of Lusby but when they look at Solomons and find there aren't as many single family homes for sale fitting their criteria they begin looking in Lusby which is just 10 minutes away. Lusby offers properties on the Chesapeak Bay, Patuxent River, lakes and several creeks. There are also several communities offering water access.
