Fun Friday Post: We Just Got a Kitten! - 08/20/10 08:35 AM
We lost our older cat due to a illness in the spring so we have been thinking about getting another one for a while. We have a yellow lab named Ben and a 5 year old cat named Sparks. Our dog loves the new kitten named Maddie. She is very sociable and loveable. Sparks is not crazy about the new addition she still growls and hisses at Maddie.

St Leonard is getting ready for the Reba Concert Tonight! - 08/19/10 12:42 PM
St. Leonard Volunteer Fire, Rescue and EMS presents their 2010 Concert Series. It started out with Foreigner palying over the weekend. It was a great concert. Tonights concert will probably have a larger turnout than Foreigner. Pictured below cars are parked along the street and vendors are getting set up. It is nice to see St Leonard come alive for these events. Tickets are still available according to the website: http://www.slvfd.com/concertinfo.html

Vacation Home Foreclosures Update in Calvert County, Western Shore Maryland - 08/18/10 12:22 PM
The first quarter of vacation home sales showed a large amount of dsitressed properties selling. Below is a chart showing the vacation home sales in Calvert County:

 
The second quarter of 2010 had more than double the sales of the first quarter but very few of the sales were distressed.

Foreclosures are expected to rise this year so it will be interesting to see if this trend changes. Many banks I am working with are beginning to fix up the homes before they are put on the market.

July Vacation Home Sales Dipped in Calvert County after an Increase in Second Quarter Sales
The chart below shows vacation type properties increased each month in the second quarter.

In July there were only 7 vacation type properties sold in Calvert County. I checked to see how many Vacation Properties sold last year in July and I was surprised to see 21 sold last July in Calvert County. Hopefully August sales will improve although looking at last year there were only 13 vacation properties that sold that in August '09.
